About daily menu & miles
Hi guys,
Its been a very long time since I've posted but I still lurk and see how everyone is doing.
I read everyone's menus & miles and I'm very interested that many of you seem to have a lots of protein shakes/teas throughout the day. I'm not even 12 months out but I eat way, way more than you guys and most days it doesn't even feel like I've had any surgery at all.
I'm feeling very disheartened lately with my surgery and I've gained about 10lbs so feel very depressed about that and don't know where to begin again to try and find a happy balance.
How do you guys eat so little and stay satisfied all day?
Cheers from Karin (in Oz)
Protein shakes help keep the cravings under control for me and I don't think I've stretched my sleeve too much using the shakes the way I do. You might try getting things back under your control with the 5-day pouch test. I think you can Google it and find the instructions. Good to see you!

I also want to say I fail miserably with the 5dpt everytime, so I modify it. The first day I do only the liquids, days 2-3, I have only protein dense food followed with protein shakes and all the liquids I can handle, day 4 same as the previous 2 but I allow the veggies (If I have a salad it is only veggies no cheese or dressing I use red wine vinegar) Day 5 I go back to normal, by this time my stomach cant handle anything else. I may not lose any weight on it but I sure do get my pouch feeling smaller and feel full longer. Good Luck.
Hello Karin!
So good to hear from you!
Sorry you are struggling, me too. I think for myself, I let the carbs get out of control. Then I feel hungry all the time.
I thought I could handle it, but the old me is still addicted to carbs. So goodbye white flour and sugar!
We can do this! Keep posting and let us know how you are doing!

If I start on bad carbs, I can eat a lot of those and they do nothing to fill me up and just make me hungry. Are you doing bad carbs?
For meals, I do protein first. I wait 45 minutes before I drink anything after a meal.
Try posting on the Menus & Miles. It really helps to actually put down what you are eating and Roz does a great job of looking over it and making suggestions. We are here to help you.
Good luck, you can do this.

I couldn't make it through the day without my shakes! I still can't eat more than a few ounces of meat at a time and sometimes my 1 meal gets spread over 2 meals. I think drinking shakes and eating small meals every few hours has kept my pouch tight.
I've found that I can eat a lot of carbs at a time and still not feel full and they make me crave more. Protein is the only thing that satisfies me and holds the hunger back.
I have also gained a few pounds. That is perfectly normal. My low was 106 but that scared me and upset my DH so I started on maintenance to early. I felt 112 was my perfect weight but 115-118 is where I usually hang out. So I'm up 10 pounds too but I'm happy there.
