I'm also having surgery that day but not WLS...they are going in to fix my jaw/sleep apnea.

Good luck with your surgery.

I have HORRIBLE sleep apnea - that is why I am having the surgery...did you have WLS? Did it help with the sleep apnea at all?

Pre-op, i had been tested within the last three years and cleared of sleep apnea (I had UPPP surgery for it in 2002), but post-op they decided when I got to goal to retest me. (it is still on my medical record as a co-morbid).

Turns out I have it again, but it was only a 6 and the cut off was 5. The problem that made them squirrely was my oxygen level which had never had a problem...I was going as low as 70%.

Took a smart sleep doctor to see zebras not horses...he sent me to an oral/maxifacial surgeon. Turns out my esophagus is way to skinny and the base of my tongue is blocking the air. Since the only position I can sleep in is on my back, changing positions isn't an option (Back surgery). So they are gonna go in and "break" my jaw, move it all forward, opening up my esophagus enough to sure the apnea/hypoxia.

Wow! Good luck with your surgery, I hope it solves your problem. Sleep apnea is horrible....I really hope the WLS helps me. Again, best of luck to you!

My surgeon has done lots of these and he said he's had fantastic results with it...so hopefully I won't break his streak. :)

Geeze, Liz.  That sounds like almost as much fun as my knee.  Hope it is much easier and works great.
