Good Morning. What did we do before microwaves and cell phones?
Think back....way back. What did you do before microwaves, GPS and cell phones? OMG! And, and the Internet? lol Just thinking about the modern time savers we have today and what it was like before we had these things. Pre-microwave to heat something up it was the stove or oven...sometimes a bowl of ho****er to bring the milk in a baby bottle up to the right temp.
Before GPS you unfolded a map and planned your route yourownself and got lost a lot. lol
Pre-cell phone, if your car broke down and a cop or someone you knew didn't stop to help you, you walked to the nearest house or business that looked nice and asked to use their phone.
What other modern technology has come about that you remember what it was like before?

Microwaves are new?
Just kidding! I remember when we got our first one. My Mom was cutting edge.
I feel sorry for teenagers today. They can't go anywhere without their parents tracking them via cell phone. Teenage years are for testing limits. I guess they do it a different way these days.
Have a great day!

I never even owned a microwave until 1993 when my 3rd baby was born. My parents never had one when I lived at home either. I do remember warming up baby food in a bowl of ho****er. I did that even after I owned a microwave because I was "afraid" of the microwave destroying the proteins in the food. Lol!
I used to have to take call at the hospital I worked at, so I had one of the first mini cell phones available. It came out right after "the brick". It cost around $800 and my cell phone bill was like $300 a month! I think that was 1989 or 1990. We have come so far in technology.
I have an innate sense of direction and rarely use my GPS. but without them, I'm not sure my DH could make it to work! Jk. But lets just say he is lost without it! Haha
I have an IPad. It is my favorite piece of technology. I have the first one, but I'm going to upgrade to the IPad 3 when it comes out. I don't leave home without it!

I can't even remember when we got our first microwave. I know we didn't have one when I was growing up. I remember heating my babies bottles on the stove in a pot because microwaves were suppose to give off something that could be dangerous to babies!!
We got our first color TV when I was a teenager - I thought we were so cool.
DH and I still use the old maps and print out directions from Mapquest. I don't know why - because we both have horrible senses of direction and usualy end up pretty lost when we go outside of our familiar routes.
I remember have to stop at pay phones to call my parents if I was going to be late. I don't even know if they have pay phones anymore!! You were always suppose to have change on you when you went on a date - just incase you needed to call home!!
I don't think I could function without my iPhone. I absolutely love it and am way too connected to it. It drives DH crazy. I just got a Kindle and am enjoying it, but I still like to hold a book. The Kindle is just a lot easier to carry in my purse and more convenient.

My biggie on technology - well, aside from those already mentioned (except the iPad - I'm lusting after one) is the ereader.
I'm an insatiable and fast reader, and always had at least one shopping bag (remember those big, brown paper grocery bags?) of books in our camper or on our boat so that I could read. It made DH nuts, especially when he had to move the books to get into the hamper in the camper, or his fishing stuff on the boat. And then I'd always run out of print partway through the vacation, and demand to stop at a bookstore to get more.
Now, with the Nook, I have hundreds of books in a tiny package, and if I feel the need for more, I can order via wi-fi and download it immediately. Oh, I still love my p-books (paper books), but the ebooks have really cut short a lot of arguments!
As far as the microwave, my brother and I got into the habit of just eating left overs cold, and we like them that way. It makes my husband and his wife nuts, as they both have to heat everything up.
And Sue - we still have a small CB that we take with in the truck, or if we're traveling with someone. There are times when the reception is better to use the CB to talk to the other vehicle than it is with the cell phones!
