So I probably did a dumb thing this morning.  I decided to weigh myself.  I did so knowing that there would probably be some gain primarily from having the IV drip in.  I just didn't expect the gain to be almost 10 lbs.  Wow!  I know this too shall pass, but how long will it take?

Also, when did you start changing your bandages?  Hubby has offered to help me change them out as I'm chicken to even really look right now.

The water weight should be gone in a week or so. I don't remember about the bandages--someone with a recent surgery or a medical person should be able to help. :)

I can hardly remember my first week home, but the water weight did not stay more than a week.  I spent 2 nights in the hospital.  I don't think I changed bandages.  I had steri-strips. Once they came off, I left them off since things were healing so nicely.  It is kind of a memory blur though...like childbirth.

Yep, the water is normal and 10 # isn't extreme.  Bandages?  check your discharge paperwork.  I bet it says.

That's the first place I looked (in the discharge papers).  Nothing there.  Thankfully it was in some other paperwork from the surgeon's office.

I also gained about 10 lbs of fluid, but it lasted less than a week :)  I didn't have any bandages going home, only steristrips.  I would say call your surgeon.
