Good Morning. Everything you wanted to know about protein
Well, maybe not everything but here's a good link. www.dsfacts.com/protein.html
How much protein to you get from shakes and how much from dense food?
Me? All I really count anymore is shakes and I get 120 grams a day in 30g shakes. If I reduce that and try to use more dense food my labs drop. Maybe in another year my system will have compensated enough to absorb more dense protein but not yet.

Thanks for the info Gina. Interesting reading.
I get around 75 from Protein Shakes/Decaf and then the rest is in foods. I do eat protein first(usually). I only count my protein from the drinks. My protein labs have always been good.
I did not know that eating protein vs protein drinks was harder on the kidneys. I probably need all the help I can get in that area. Genetically the women in my family have tons of kidney problems.
Hope everyone has a great Friday!!

Thank you for this post!
Last night I went to a WLS get-together where there were s out 25 of us and guest speaker dietician (volunteering her time at night after work). We were mostly RnYers but a few others but from all around Israel.
The company and refreshment (everyone contributes something from foods and drinks to disposbles) were great but the dietician for me was mostly confusing aggravating and a waste of my time and affords to get to said get-together.
The dietician explained differences of Sleeve and RnY abd functionality with drawings and inmportance of proper nutrition and vitamin intake and eating choices. Then she dais we only need 60g protein a day and only solid foods and to only use protein powders if you are deficiency. She would only answer questions from one half of the room-not the side where I was sitting!
She said it is better to take vitamins shy which way if it means taking as opposed to not taking st all.
I am quite careful on buying and taking protein powder drinks and aim for 80-100 g day in food but usually average 70g day in foods hence my use of protein powder. She looks only at albumin on blood and my GP looks at Total Protein.
I pretty much could not see eye to eye with her on mist if what she said as it negates what my doc said four years ago and what I read on the Boards.
If anyone has any info to enlighten/encourage me it would be midt appreciated.
I did inherit from a member her canister of protein powder that is not using and she refused payment from me.
I was also very disappointed that hardly mentioned my newer figure snd flat tummy after TT. I'm short and seem to get the short end of things. Those thst were almost sic feet tall and had lost over fifty kilo got all the oohs and aahs. I am still fat and not very curvaceous but I once weighed 120kilo but these people met me at 104kilo. Everyone wants to be recognized for their achievements but I barely received more than a hello.
