My surgiversary & other ramblings :)

Hello LWs..... Hoping everyone is doing well.   I just realized that tomorrow will be my 2 yr surgiversary.  Where has the time gone?!   Life is pretty good.   I still push the protein & vits.  My biggest weakness is still getting in all of my fluids.  My scale is no longer my enemy.  I weigh myself 2-3x a week now rather that 17,294x a day  lol   My weight flucuates 1 - 2 lbs up/down.  When its up, I know its time to up the protein grams and take a serious look at how many carbs Im taking in.   My last set of labs were excellent.  My energy level is thru the roof.  My sleep apnea is gone.  My arthritic hip no longer bothers me.  My BP is on the low side.  My urinary incontinence is gone.   Yep.... life is pretty good.

I did receive my notice in the mail yesterday where its time for my colonoscopy.  Ive had MANY colonoscopies over the years.  While the prep isnt fun, its a neccassary evil. ( My brother passed away from colon cancer and my sister was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.)   However Im kind of nervous about this scope.  This is the first one Ive had since my WLS.   I tend to get very shaky if I dont eat every so many hours...... so Im rather concerned how the prep part will go without being able to eat.  Im going to have to discuss this with the surgeon.

Hope everyone here is doing well....... and behaving themselves  ;)   Much love to all,   Cindy

Hi Cindy!  Yay on such a successful two years!  You've done a great job learning how to live in recovery.

I'm so sorry about your brother and sister.  How smart you are to really keep a good check on everything to maintain your excellent health.  I hope your surgeon can help you with the prep so that you don't suffer.

We're all behaving.  Gina and Roz smack us upside the head if we don't!  :)

Happy Surgeiversity tomorrow.  You have done a great job and sound like you have a good handle on things.

When I had my latest knee thing, I had nothing by mouth after midnight, per usual.  It ended up being 4:30 before they got to me and although I was really hungry and thirsty, I was ok.  Maybe because I was in bed from 10:30 that morning.  My BP was pretty low but they expected that with no intake.  Just see if you can get an early appt and I bet you will be fine.

Thanks Price!    For colonoscopy, Im not allowed anything but clear liquids for the whole day of the prep, then nothing at all after midnight.  So there will be no "food" for well over 24 hours.  If I dont eat something every 3 hours or so, I get extremelly shaky.     Cindy

Mostly a lurker, but wanted to say Congrats on your success.  I can remember the rough time your insurance company gave you when you were trying to get approved for your WLS.

Ive had a colonoscopy after my WLS.  I wont lie, it was alot rougher after WLS than it was before.  I went  28 hrs without eating.  I only had broth & sugar free popsicles during the prep.   I felt so weak/faint.  I had dry heaves.  Something that I never experienced pre my wls.

I also have a family history of colon cancer.  My Dad & brother both diagnosed.  Good for you for being pre-active in your health.  May you have a clean bill of health.

Happy Surgiversary tomorrow.  You have continued to do so good.  Your little grandson is so cute.  I love seeing his pictures on Facebook.
We miss you on here!!!

Good luck with the colonoscopy.  I have not had one since WLS.
