So, I thought I'd do some homework and make a profile on choosemyplate.gov WOOT! Oh boy, am I gonna be in trouble. As you can probably guess I'm way over on protein and way under on whole grains, veggies and fruit. The good news is my popcorn counts as a whole grain but the site holds the oil and butter against me. Hmm...I wonder if I should subtract the amount of fat, protein and carbs I malabsorb? Oh! And, the protein was way too high even without protein powder...their database of foods doesn't include protein powder or Greek yogurt. lol  The site also doesn't let you count carbs just calories...what a waste.

It is a waste.

For most of us, it most certainly is.  But, for a lot of folks it is a good beginning given how utterly crappy the average diet is.

Sounds like a waste unless it gives you a good laugh.

I think we just have to admit we are not the norm.  Normal folks don't do protein drinks many times a day.  My friends still look at me like I am crazy.  And although I ate pretty healthy before, it didn't resemble how I am eating now.  I think sites like that are set up for normal folks who eat horribly so they can get better options.  We eat like we do for a reason.  Not everyone in the world needs to eat like we do but could choose healthier options for sure.  Hopefully that site works better for them.

I tried calculating my "age" using one of those sites that says we can be years younger or older than our chronological age based on diet and habit.  As you might imagine, the diet I had to eat while on lapband really aged me.  I can't even imagine how weird it would be to put in my RNY diet!

I don't even think those recommendations are good for normies. You know, when the government started pushing carbs is also when the obesity epidemic started. Coincidence? Could be, but it makes me wonder...
