I just found out about this forum today and I'm glad to have discovered it!  I'm newly sleeved!

I am curious if lighter BMI folks have an easier and quicker time getting to goal.  I would assume so but then again the heavierweights drop so many pounds so quickly that I'm in AWE!  I know the more you lose the faster you lose but does it all even out at some point?

On the day of surgery I was about 214 and I should probably be at about 150-160 (not sure yet) as my goal weight.  Should I be there by 6 months or do ya'll think it will take the full year to drop it if I'm following the plan diligently and exercising 5 days a week?

I guess I'm wanting to hear from those with similiar stats and find out what their experience was.
Please and Thank you!! :)

Welcome to the best forum in town.  It does seem like many of the lightweights lost really fast.  I haven't but I'm not complaining either.  Those that eat the most protein and exercise the most regularly definitely do best.
Welcome aboard.

I think there are lots of factors.  It took me two years to get to goal.  I exercised daily, two hours a day months 4-7 post op.  I tracked my food, didn't go over 1000 calories very often until well over a year out, ate low carb and still lost slowly.  So there's just no way to give definitive answers.  I lost very slowly pre op as well so it didn't surprise me very much.  I'm 61 with a slow metabolism, put on thyroid meds at six months out.  I think age does make a difference.

I hope you get your weight off quickly!

Welcome to the best forum on OH!

Welcome!  I just had RNY on 1/6/12. I started at 226 and lost 8 lbs pre op.  I am 5'2" and 45 years old.  I'm down over 40 lbs already.  I am currently experiencing a 2 week stall.  This is pretty common as our bodies adjust to the changes taking place.  I haven't been exercising but hope to start when I return to work next week.  That should help kick the weight loss back in.  My goal is 125.

This board is great!  Everyone here is super supportive and knowledgeable.  Plus they are friendly!!  Good luck in your journey!  Just remember, everybody is different.  You may lose faster or slower than others that post.  It's all good though!  We'll be here for you no matter how long or short your journey is.

I don't know if lightweights lose faster or if it just seems that way because they don't need to lose as much to get to goal.  It really is an individual thing.  I lost very fast, although it didn't really seem that way at the time.  I wanted to be thin the next day ;)

Welcome aboard!

I lost to normal BMI with 5 or 6 months and then it took another 5 to get to my personal goal. We lose just as fast as heavy weights, we just have less to lose. :)

Make sure you take your measurements - i take them monthly and it helps to see inches melt away, too!!! Remember you will definitely lose faster than you ever did with any diet.

Welcome!!!

While this is hard, don't think of it as "pounds lost" - think of it as "percentage lost".  Keeping your focus on that will make you see we lose at pretty much the same rate as a heavier person.  Their 10lbs lost may be the equivalent percentage of fat lost to your 5 lbs. (Think of the weigh-ins on The Biggest Loser)  I know... we all want to see the scale move fast!  I was the same way, but before you know it - you'll be at goal!

My Dr wouldn't give me a goal weight and I thought 150 sounded good (I'm 5'3"), well let's say, my lowest was 121.  Your body will know when to stop (except for Tazz's).  Just use your tool the right way and it will do right by you!

Congrats on finding this board - great place to be.

Welcome to the LW Board.  Congratulations on your sleeve.  We have lots of people who do great with their sleeves and I'm sure will be able to offer you any advice you need.

I think everyone covered the weight loss.  I had more to lose so it took me a little longer.  Mine was pretty steady, but I did have RNY so it is different.

Good luck!!
