OT Need Advice About Responding to a Job Ad

I have been out of work for about 2 1/2 years. I haven't been looking too hard lately because I am working with Voc Rehab and taking classes to improve my chances at finding a job.
I have sent out literally hundreds of resumes and not gotten one response. I have heard that this isn't too uncommon, that many job openings get so many responses that they can't contact everyone who expresses interest.
Last week I was looking in Craigslist, like I do pretty regularly, and saw an ad for a job that I think would be perfect for me. I sent out a resume and a few days later I actually heard back. The person wrote "I do like the resume you sent to me ....when are you available for an interview?". I wrote her back and said "I should be available any time after this Friday." This was last Monday. I was kind of distracted because I was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday and I didn't want to say anything about that because I didn't want her to think I would have any health issues that would prevent me from doing the job.
As soon as I sent the email I regretted not writing more, at least thanking her for getting back to me, or something to let her know I really was interested in the job. I haven't heard back from her and I'm afraid I blew it.
Is there anything I could do or say at this point? I was thinking about writing her back and asking if they were still interviewing but I don't really know what I should say.
Is it too late or is there any advice on what I can do to let her know I am interested?

As far as I'm concerned, its never too late.  Show you're interested and send up a follow-up email and see what happens.

Unfortunately I also applied at 60+ jobs.  I got this one because I knew the PM.  Be careful with Craigslist - if they ask for an online interview or yahoo messenger - its a scam.  I didn't have one CL response that wasn't.

I am actually very paranoid about job scams and I googled this person to make sure she is who she said she is and it was legit.
What should I say in a follow up email?  I kind of feel like maybe she didn't like my response (or lack of one) and decided not to pursue it.  I just don't know what words I should use.

Say something like:

Hello

I'm following up on our email conversation on ___ (day) regarding my availability for an interview.

My skills for this job are:  _________

Thank you for your time and am looking forward to meeting you.

Regards

______________

I'm sure someone can wordsmith this better than I, but you get the idea.

I would send her an email.  We just hired for a part time position minimum wage and had over 75 applications.  The only way to sort through them was to only pull the ones that had library experience.  So be sure when you are applying that you list the experience that you have for that particular job.

It helps to have some connection to the job place such as a friend or a friend of a friend, just some sort of connection.

I would tell her in the email that you are very interested in the position and your qualifications for that job.  Tell her that you look foward to meeting with her to discuss the position more.

Good luck.

It's never too late. Worst case scenario, she doesn't respond. If you don't send her an email, you'll keep wondering "what if."

I know how it is when you're looking for a job. The rejections really sting. But for the people on the other side doing the hiring, you're just one contact they made. It's quite possible she meant to contact you to set up and interview and just hasn't done it yet. You know how we all tend to let things slide at work when there are other more important fires to put out. Sending an email to remind her who you are and that you're interested is the perfect thing to do.

Good luck lil' miss Tazz!!!

I would definitely write to them again.  What's it going to hurt? If they weren't planning on contacting you maybe another letter might change their mind.

I had 18 years at the company I worked for when the owner decide to close down.  I was offered a job right away from one of our suppliers but the pay wasn't great and I thought I could find something better.  I answered every help wanted ad listing my skills and a few that didn't but nothing any good came along.

Finally I got desparate so I mailed out a letter and resume to every single person that I knew personally and I got a huge response back. Many just sent me Prayers (which I needed) and others said they would let me know if they heard of anything but within a week one friend that I hadn't really seen for years got me an interview, I got the job, and I Love it!!

Do write again, the PPs all had good advice.  I would just add (having been a hiring manager in my day), attach your resume again, so she doesn't have to rustle it up from who-knows-where in her email or pile-o-resumes.
