Aversion to water- please help

I am still sick.  It's been over a week.  I've had an EGD and and an UGI.  I'm very nauseated and I've been throwing up 2-3 times a day.  Well, dry heaving.  I ate some chicken soup last night, the first food since Saturday, 2/ 4!  I am really struggling with water.  Before surgery and before I got sick I could drink Dasani by the gallon.   I love that stuff.  Not now.  It is like an assault on my system.  I've never been a fan of artificial sweeteners.  But I've tried Zerowater and Propel Zero.  I've tried Hawaiian punch and Crystal light.  The only thing that goes down and stays down without a fight is Tropicanna 50.    But at 10 g of sugar per serving, I drink one in the am and one in the pm. I dilute it with crushed ice.  Today I am trying Gerber pear juice.  A 4 oz serving has 11 g of sugar so I've diluted it in 4 oz crushed ice.   Yes it's sad but I'm on baby food!  DH bought me low sodium V8 to try but I haven't got to it yet.  I have had 3 episodes of IV fluids this week.  I have a dr appointment this morning.  Does anyone have any ideas for fluids I haven't tried yet?  As a side note, DH travels a lot for work.  He is scheduled to go to Mexico tomorrow.  DSD is flying in to babysit me.  I was alone this weekend and almost fainted so I guess I need a babysitter.  I wasn't expecting that one for another 40 years!

I tend to do better with warm drinks rather than cold.  My first 2 weeks after surgery I got 90% of my fluids through herbal teas.  They went down well and seemed to calm my new pouch.  I have some loose tea.  It was a mixture of mint, chamomile, and rose hips.  Whatever suits your tastes and you can keep down will work.  I used decaffeinated teas.

I hope this doesn't last much longer!

I will have DH look for tea that has these ingredients.  I haven't thought of that one!  Thanks.

(((HUGS)))

So sorry you are going through this!  Warm liquids settle better for me also when my tummy is upset.

Be careful with the Pear Juice.  My DGD who had rectum surgery has to drink that in her milk every day to keep her bowels moving and it really works!  If it wasn't for the sugar I'd be drinking it every day to keep me from being constapated.

I will be careful.  However with a gut full of barium from yesterday's UGI it's probably not a bad idea to keep things moving.

If salty worked before, unjury chicken soup.  It is pretty high in sodium but sits well and has protein to boot.  Maybe dilute it more than it calls for.

Gina always says to add a squirt of lemon to the water and it may sit better.

I also lived on warm herb teas.  There are some that are suppose to settle a tummy but I can't remember which.  I love the peach and honey vanilla camomelle.  Both are caffeine free.

I bought the low soduim V8 and threw it way.  TO ME, that was gross and I like V8.

I also like Sobe 0 and get that as a treat.  I hate paying over $1 for anything.  If you can handle those, there is a pear flavor, walmart and dollar general have them for $1 instead of $1+.

Hope you have a productive appt and find out what is going on.

I'm so sorry things aren't going well.  The Zero water worked for me.  I agree though with everyone who says warm seems to work better than cold.  Hugs and swinging lizards for you.

Tonya, I am so sorry you are still having these problems.  I sure hope he can figure it out and get you fixed up.

I agree with the warm feels better than cold.  I had to drink water at room temperature.  I never drink plain water.  I love Crystal lite in mine.  Have you tried all of their flavors?  Some I like and some I hate.

Let us know what the doctor tells you.  Good luck.

it is probably the chemicals in the Dasani that aren't working for you. If you look on the bottle all Dasani is is tap water from a municipal source that has been treated with chemicals.

you might try pure spring water. You can get it at the same place you get Dasani. You might also try the MIO dropps. You can add as many or as few squirts as needed to suit what you can tolerate.

Many WLS'er can't ever tolerate plain water anymore. You may have rolled around to that.It is something about the osmolity of the water in our tiny pouches/sleeves doesn't jive.

Ginger tea and peppermint tea are both know to relieve nausea. Maybe one or both or those would help, but not together.

good luck,it is terrible to be nauseated all the time.

Gina told me abou****er with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. Have even used grapefruit and orange to mix it up. I love stevia and all I need is a little sprinkle, not alot of sweetener. I may use one pack a day.
I still do better with room temp or warm liquids and its been over 18 months.
Wylers bullion cubes were a good standby, also decaf constant comment tea with a sprinkle of stevia helped me too.
Keep experimenting. Feel better soon.
