This could be off topic (OT) but some may apply...

My favorites for some strange reason:

Lieutenant Daniel Taylor: I'm here to try out my sea legs.
Forrest Gump: But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan.

Patton: I want you to remember that no ******* ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb ******* die for his country.

Nancy Reagan:

“A woman is like a tea bag, you can not tell how strong she is until you put her in ho****er"

Next....

er won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb ******* die for his country.

"No ******* ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb ******* die for his country."

"No ******* ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb ******* die for his country."

Some of mine:

It is the plain women who know about love; the beautiful women are too busy being fascinating. - Katharine Hepburn

If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. - Steve Jobs

We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers - but never blame yourself. It's never your fault. But it's always your fault, because if you wanted to change you're the one who has got to change. - Katharine Hepburn

Judge Randolph: You *don't* have to answer that question!
Col. Jessep: I'll answer the question!
[to Kaffee]
Col. Jessep: You want answers?
Kaffee: I think I'm entitled to.
Col. Jessep: *You want answers?*
Kaffee: *I want the truth!*
Col. Jessep: *You can't handle the truth!*

So they've got us surrounded, good! Now we can fire in any direction, those *******s won't get away this time! -  Lt. Gen Chesty Puller (unsourced)

They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can't get away from us now! Lt. Gen Chesty Puller (unsourced)

We're not retreating, Hell! We're just attacking in a different direction! - Gen. Oliver Smith, USMC

A piece of spaghetti or a military unit can only be led from the front end. - George S. Patton

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. - Robert A. Heinlein

You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.- Robert A. Heinlein

Don't handicap your children by making their lives easy. - Robert A. Heinlein

How you behave toward cats here below determines your status in Heaven. - Robert A. Heinlein

Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation. - Robert A. Heinlein

TANSTAAFL.- Robert A. Heinlein

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. - Robert A. Heinlein

The two highest achievements of the human mind are the twin concepts of "loyalty" and "duty." Whenever these twin concepts fall into disrepute — get out of there fast! You may possibly save yourself, but it is too late to save that society. It is doomed.- Robert A. Heinlein

As to the Nancy Reagan quote...I always saw that one as being attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt.

 Liz,

I read Robert Heinlein all the time when I was younger.  I LOVE the line about not handicapping your children by making their lives too easy.  I own an educational consulting business, teaching functional life skills to special needs children and young adults.  For many their real handicap is their parents!!!!

Interesting topic and I know my quotes may not be as inspirational but I love them just the same.

Fifty years from now, when you're looking back at your life, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car? (The First transformers)

Within the small sphere of our time we can stare into our past, but only our future is within our control" (Numbers)

Don't get me started... oh, too late!

A bunch from Lois McMaster Bujold:

But pain... seems to me an insufficient reason not to embrace life. Being dead is quite painless. Pain, like time, is going to come on regardless. Question is, what glorious moments can you win from life in addition to the pain?

Experience suggests it doesn't matter so much how you got here, as what you do after you arrive.

The will to be stupid is a very powerful force, but there are always alternatives.

His mother had often said, When you choose an action, you choose the consequences of that action. She had emphasized the corollary of this axiom even more vehemently: when you desired a consequence you had damned well better take the action that would create it.

I am who I choose to be. I always have been what I chose...though not always what I pleased.

A weapon is a device for making your enemy change his mind.

Adulthood isn't an award they'll give you for being a good child. You can waste... years, trying to get someone to give that respect to you, as though it were a sort of promotion or raise in pay. If only you do enough, if only you are good enough. No. You have to just... take it. Give it to yourself, I suppose. Say, I'm sorry you feel like that and walk away. But that's hard.

And a few from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett from "Good Omens:"
Along with the standard computer warranty agreement which said that if the machine 1) didn't work, 2) didn't do what the expensive advertisement said, 3) electrocuted the immediate neighbourhood, 4) and in fact failed entirely to be inside the expensive box when you opened it, this was expressly, absolutely, implicitly and in no event the fault or responsibility of the manufacturer, that the purchaser should consider himself lucky to be allowed to give his money to the manufacturer, and that any attempt to treat what had just been paid for as the purchaser's own property would result in the attentions of serious men with menacing briefcases and very thin watches.

It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people.

God does not play dice with the universe: He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e. everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

And now from Diane Duane:

"It is true," Carmela said. "For silicon-based life forms, one of the chemicals in chocolate is an aphrodisiac." / "Oh, now, wait a minute!" Kit said, and covered his eyes with one hand.

Because in a world where your computer knew how to wink at you, and MEAN it... ANYTHING could happen.

and two from her wizardly cats:

I will meet the cruel and the cowardly today, liars and the envious, the uncaring and unknowing: they will be all around. But their numbers and their carelessness do not mean I have to be like them. For my part, I know my job; my commission comes from Those Who Are. My paw raised is Their paw on the neck of the Serpent, now and always.

I will meet the terminally clueless today, idiots, and those with hairballs for brains, and those whose ears need a good shredding before you can even get their attention. I do not have to be like them, even though I would dearly love to hit them hard enough to make the empty places in their heads echo.

My Mom LOVES THE Forrest Gump movie!!   My brother got her a new TV last Christmas and she was so mad because she couldn't find Forrest Gump on it!!  It took us months to figure out she had it on a VCR tape and my SIL hadn't hooked up her VCR when he hooked up the TV.  We didn't even know she knew how to work the VCR....LOL.

That's a good one!  On my bad attitude days I also like Dirty Harry's "Make my day," and almost any John Wayne line asserting his dominance.

(wow - think I tend toward the conservative side?????  Do you suppose wearing my JLo 4 1/2 inch heel gray suede boots has anything to do with it today?  Or did I wear the boots because of the attitude?  Which came first - the chicken or the egg?  I know for us it was the scrambled egg, but... yeah, writing reports has sucked my brain clean out of my head)
