Newby from Baltimore
Hi, My name is Megan and I just wanted to introduce myself. I had no idea there was a LW forum and Im so glad that I found it! Im 5'1/2" and 196 pounds. I feel so comfortable here. Im scared about not getting approved. We will be submitting in Feb after my last nut class. My comorbids are high cholesterol, Gerd, IBS, plantar faciitis, knee pain, depression. I have a horrible family history for obesity and diabetes. Do you think that is enough to get approved? I have federal BCBS. The surgeon and the NUT seem to think its fine but Im scared.
Thanks, Megan
Thanks, Megan
Welcome aboard!
I've heard fed BCBS is easier to deal than other insurance companies, so I'm sending good vibes your way.

Welcome and glad you found us. I think the offices who deal with insurance all the time are the best bet when trying to find out what is needed and what gets approved. So if they think it won't be an issue, you are probably fine.

Welcome! I was very nervous about approval, too, and didn't even post here until I had a surgery date. I have several similarities: I'm 5'1" and 190 pounds. My only comomorbidity is severe arthritis. I also have BCBS and was initially told it would take 2-3 weeks (after completing all tests and consults) to hear something and to be prepared to appeal. They sent me an approval letter in 5 days and my surgery is scheduled for Thursday! I hope things go just as smoothly for you.
Hi Megan
Welcome to the lightweight board. From what everyone says, you have good insurance. My insurance will not approve without more severe co-morbidities, so you're pretty lucky!
I'll be heading to Washington on a business trip tomorrow- I'll be thinking of you as I drive through Baltimore.
Take care

Hi Megan and welcome to the LW board. I love it here and hope you will also.
I would think with atleast 2 co morbidities you would be ok, but I don't really know anything about BCBS. I would think the surgeon's office would have a pretty good idea whether you would be approved or not.
Good luck with your approval and getting a date. Send any questions you have our way.
