Step AWAY from the sugar cookies!!!!
Boy I tell ya, it's hard to keep walking past the little plate of sugar cookies without cursing at them. I made it through Halloween and Thanksgiving, must-make-it-past-Christmas!!! Step away from the sugar cookies and no one will get hurt!
Here's a toast to everyone fighting the urge!!
Sugar free, fat free, alcohol free beer of course!

Last year I found out I don't dump on sugar anymore. Prior to that you couldn't get me to put sugar to my lips - watch out now!! Luckily I'm not a big sugar eater, but maybe this helps.. there was someone on a show this morning that lost 150 lbs from exercise and eating right. They said she walked 34,000 calories off walking to/from work everyday. Then they showed what equated to those 34,000 calories.
SUGAR COOKIES! with frosting and sprinkles!
And not nearly as many as I thought there would be to be THAT many calories!!! Yikes!! That was great incentive on my part to stay away!!
Great post - especially this time of year. I know I need all the support I can get. Luckily I don't have any parties to go to this year to tempt me...

About a year ago I had ONE Lofthouse cookie in the teachers' lounge. Then I looked at the label. It was about 2 inches in diameter, so not that big, and it was 450 freakin' calories! Never, never again! I can have stuff that tastes better with fewer calories!
On the other hand, we have a small grocery chain here that carries the spoon fruit I put in my greek yogurt... and their bakery has this brownie called the "Not a Nutter," that is loaded with chocolate and caramel and is 400 calories... that one calls me very loudly when I even drive by on the street!

LOL - I've been fighting this battle for the past 2-3 weeks. I had been losing the battle up until last week. I've done good the last 3 days. I posted on the Menus and Miles that when I went to heat my lunch in the kitchen today, there were cookies everywhere. Somebody has brought the largest tin of sugar cookies, we had cookies left from an event we held Saturday and someone's Mom sent cheesecake squares..... Now I need to stay out of the kitchen. I know that I can eat several of them and unless I eat a very large amount they don't make me sick.
Good luck with your battle!!

I've been eating cookies every day. Fortunately they are cookies I have made, without sugar or gluten and with extra protein powder so every cookie has around 100 calories and about 8 grams of protein. That way I can indulge without feeling bad. There are a lot of sugar free, gluten free recipes out there and all you have to do is add protein powder and you can tell yourself it's a healthy snack :)

Maybe it isn't so bad to be homebound.
At Least I'm not confrounted with cookies everywhere. I was yesterday at the tea and I did eat probably one of everything (3 total) and some pecans and pineapple. I would have eaten more but my pouch said it wasn't a good idea and thankfully, I stopped. I don't dump but I was sure feeling like I had had more than enough sugar.
The next party is Thurs and I am doing a SF chocolate trifle for it so I can have something legal.

I finally realized that I have mild dumping from too much fat but sugar hasn't been that bad. I've been really off track for a few weeks with everything going on. Last night I found a chocolate walnut cookie at Whole Foods that only had 80 calories a cookie and 5 grams of sugar. I was pleased a*****h becuause they were amazing----then I ate the whole bag of 16. I'm nuts! I'm crazy! I didn't come this far to go backwards so I won't be buying those again.

The quote "the force is strong with this one" really comes to mind here. )!^&$#@%%^!@#(W*!@_(&%&!@%(&!@%#^$!)@* Is what I say to those darned cookies,cakes,chocolates,breads,brownies..OMG THEY ARE EVERYWHERE, what makes it worse is working in STARBUCKS and having it in front of your face every single second.... I have been losing this battle guys. I hope I can get ahold of it and get back in line soon.

Don't know what it is about this time of year .... too many temptations or maybe its the dark days that make us want to comfort ourselves with sweets...
but I DID make some extra good sugarfree fatfree high fiber pumpkin pie out of one of the pumpkins I grew in the backyard ( a long island cheese )
took about a 1/2 hour of fun " work" on and off total and it made two extra LARGE pyrex tart pans full - so plenty to feed 2 families .
first , cut the top off the pumpkin and bake it in some water after scooping the seeds out ( roasted pumpkin seeds are delicious and nutritious ... I put them in a sparate small pan and this is the first course
and cook's treat)
when punpkin is super soft and U can peel the skin off with Ur fingers its done . ( takes a few hours and scents the house like the holidays - yum yum)
peel skin off and mash pulp in either food processor or with a fork . My pumpkin was large so I added 2 envelopes of fat free powdered milk dissolved in 1/2 cup fatfree half and half , 5 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice , one tablespoon vanilla, and about 1/3 small carton of 100% eggwhite egg substitute and 2 envelopes butter buds and about 1/2 cup of baking splenda ( spoon to spoon sugar equivaent kind ) Adjust the Splenda to Ur taste . Divide 3 organic eggs - and whipped the whites until they reach stiff peaks in a separate bowl . Use the egg yolks for something else .
I folded all the ingredients together and poured into the Pammed pyrex pie pans into which I had hand crumbled cinnamon lowfat graham crackers for a crust .
Bake at 325 until a knife insterted in the middle comes out ALMOST or totally clean ... take out of oven and serve either warm or cold with fat free whipped cream.
I suspectU could add protein powder to this recipe without greatly affecting the taste ... personally I'd rather use it as creamer i my coffee but it certainly could be done .
