I've never heard of Red Eyed Gravy.  Can you please educate me?  The rest of the breakfast sounds wonderful, so I'm curious about the gravy.

Linda can answer also if it was different at her house but at our house, red eye gravy was ham gravy, made with no flour or thickening.  Just some water added to the pan where the country ham was cooked, then reduced.

My grandmother made it not sure if I remember all the ingredients.
Ham drippings, water and coffee all mixed together in a frying pan and heated, you spoon it over your biscuits--yummy!!

1.  I am almost done with my shopping! Yeah...a few more things to figure out.

2.  I am planning on making a low carb pumpkin pie and maybe some low carb pumpkin cheesecakes....other than that probably nothing.

3.  One of my favorite memories is when my grandmother's box would arrive in the mail each year.....we were a military family and should mail presents and cookies and treats. My little sister loved her sugar cookies so much that she would save them for days and space them out so they would last.  As we got older I would give her my share since she loved them so much.  I also loved making pizzelles.  No baking this year which I feel okay about.  I also used to love Midnight Mass.

Now I look forward to hiking on Christmas Eve or day......

Thanks Price for the memories.....

1.  Are you done with your Christmas Shopping? I think I have a few more things to get.

2.  Are you trying any new dishes for the holidays? I haven't gotten that far in my planning yet but I am going to fix dessert wine spritzer at my party. That will be new.

3.  What are your favorite holiday memories? A big snowy Christmas when we lived in the farm house. My grandmother and aunt drove up from South Carolina and didn't know what to do or how to drive in all the snow. There was almost no snow clearing equipment in our town much less out in the county. Anyway, it was a big Christmas for us since my dad's part time company was sold. He socked enough away to pay for my brothers' and my under graduate degrees.

 Great thread Price!

1.  Almost done, highly unusual for me, but we are going to the Dominican on the 26th so with that to get ready for as well,, I felt the need to start earlier than usual.  It's much more stress free this way, so I might continue doing it this early :)

2.  I don't think so, I'll stick to tradition.

3.  My Mom comes from a family of 8 so, when everyone went to my grandparents for Christmas, I would have 20 something first cousins to play with, that was a blast!  Also, my sisters and I wanted a cat/kitten for years and one year my Mom and Dad got us one for Christmas - that was probably my best gift!

I hope you're healing quickly, Price!

1.  All Done!

2.  Yes...since I will be 11 days out I will be making an egg custard and a cream soup of some kind.

3.  My folks would take us to look at Christmas lights on Christmas eve...we would go everywhere until about 1am...come home to find Santa has been there and get to open presents.
Funny thing about this tradition, when we were waiting to leave....it would take forever.  First my mom would have to go to the bathroom...10 minutes later, she would get into the car and then my Dad would have to go to the bathroom...10 minutes later he would come back.  They would act out the same fight.  " I can't believe you have to go to the bathroom again" & "Why did it take so long?"  Years later I found out it was all a sham.  My mom and dad were running the present down stairs to get them under the tree.  They couldn't wait for us to open the presents till morning...so we would drive around until we were ready to get home and see if Santa got to our house.

Opps.  I think I hit a sour note.  I certainly didn't mean to offend you or anyone else.
