Good Morning. We need some chatter around here.
That's the public service announcement for the day.
I'm going to post about probiotics this morning. I'm a DSr and let me tell you, probiotics really help with digestive issues and gas. Any of the malabsorptive surgeries, and MacMadame may say the maldigestive surgeries as well, benefit from taking probiotics. These little buggers add good bacteria to your gut. They're not an antibiotic. You can start them as a pre-op and continue them as soon as you are able post-op. Currently, I only need one a day--late in the day. The brand I take is Primal Defense Ultra by Garden of Life. It does require refrigeration but worth the trouble. I get mine from VitaminShoppe or Whole Foods but I see it on Amazon as well.
Do any of you take a probiotic or anything else to help your digestive system?
Y'all have a great Monday.

Probiotics have been a must for me even before WLS. In 1991 I had picked up a nasty bug called c. diff (clostirdium difficile) after being on antibiotics for a sinus infection. This is when I learned about probiotics.
I am with Gina with the Primal defense ultra.
But when I am on antibiotics or having stomach issues, I always rely on Natrens Healthy Trininty. They are expensive, but this was the brand that really helped me out after being hospitalized for 10 days for diarrhea.
Probiotics are thought to help with our immunity, and to help with digestion.
Great topic Gina!

I know I have been missing in action lately. I still can't sit at the computer for long at a time and most of that time has to be work related.

I take a probiotic everyday. I take a GNC berry that is a chewable, very good and tasty.
I think they're very important, especially for those of us who have had our insides rerouted, as we don't have the intestines we once had, and all the help it can get to do its job efficiently!
My son came home for the weekend, we actually to my daughters and I came down to see him. Now I'm getting some alone and play time with the Grandbaby. Will be heading north after dropping him off at the airport. I'll be back into routine then.
I do leave a canister of protein here at her house so I don't have to cart it around. Makes it easier to stay on track!

I do not take a probiotic. I used to eat the yogurt that was suppose to help with digestive issues. I think I probably need to get some and start taking it. I have to take the Miralax, stool softners and still have problems. Gas is not as much of an issue if I stay away from a lot of carbs and sugars.
Does it hurt the Primal Defense during the shipping or do they keep them cool during that?
Hope everyone has a great day today!!

Also, I started up today when I hadn't had any in weeks and TODAY I'm all farty - go figure!
There was a study somewhere that said people with gastric bypass who took probiotics lost more than those who didn't. I suspect that having the flora in your digestive system unbalanced can make some people think they are hungry.
