I have been kind of MIA on this board for a while. My day job in retail has been kicking my butt (can you say Black Friday), and my new girlfriend has been keeping me busy at night

I have lost enough weight now. I have lost much more weight that I ever thought I would. My doctor told me in my pre surgery consult he thought I might get to 220 lbs. I told him my goal was 200 lbs. This morning I hit a new all time low at 168 lbs. If I lose 3 more lbs I will be half the man I once was when I weighed 330 lbs. I really want to stop losing weight. I know some of you would love to have this problem. I am eating as much as I can and I am terrified to try anything higher in sugar or fat. I am also afraid to gain weight even though I am way under my goal. I am starting to wonder if I need to go see a shrink or a NUT. Have any of you had this problem? I really need some help to find a way to stop my weight loss and maybe gain a couple of pounds.

Yeah, I got scared after I past normal BMI and kept going. I added trail mix and more protein shakes and it slowed me down. You still want to go a little lower than you think you should so that your bounce back brings you back up to a comfortable weight. It's a process, hang in there.

I have been eating cashews like crazy recently but I am afraid to add trail mix. I am terrified of throwing up or dumping. I had one episode of dumping early on and I thought dieing was a great option. I am almost seven months out. What are some safe options to add back into my diet?

Cheese, peanuts, almonds, protein shakes, eggs, ham, Greek yogurt sweetened with Splenda...

Don - I was like you - once... I could eat pretty much anything and lose or maintain my weight.  Then one day - BAM - I started gaining.

Cashews was my best friend.  Remember, one day you WILL stop malaborbing... then it can come back and bite you.  Just add good quality snacks to your diet.  But I've always been one to say "let your body decide".  And yes, I'd LOVE to have that problem at this point 3 years out!!

I started getting nervous once I got close to a BMI that would put me under weight...but I heard everyone say that your body will decide so I didn't change anything other than to make sure I was getting enough protein in and calories in..and sure enough my body seems to have stopped before I hit the underweight bmi range...didn't do anything different just made sure I paid attention to what was coming in and out..which is probably a good idea for maintenance anyway.

I got nervous when I got down to 112-113 which was a BMI of 21-22.

But it turns out I was nervous about nothing... it all worked out and I wished I hadn't deliberately tried to stop the weight loss so soon.

One thing I will recommend once you get down to a weight you like is to start (or increase) your strength training. It's really hard to gain muscle when you are operating at a calorie deficit so you can't do as much as you can once you get to goal and start eating more.

Building muscle will help you in the long run to maintain your weight and will help with that 'skin and bones' look.

Don't be afraid of eating fat either. Our society has been sold a bill of good that fat is bad for you. But we need a certain amount and it's very satisfying. Plus a lot of no and low fat versions of food get that way by adding sugar and other carbs. Sugar and simple carbs lower the metabolism so if you have to avoid something, avoid those and not fat.
