Waiting for a call for an endoscopy appointment...

I called my surgeon's office this morning and explained what's been going on with me. Many of you know that I've been complaining about one day a deviled egg or shrimp are okay the next day it may cause enough pain that I want to die.  After I called the surgeon's office and described what has been going on vomiting and severe pain after eating anything other than yogurt or cottage cheese they sent an email to Kaiser to request a endoscopy.  The nurse said I could go to the emergency room now and tell Kaiser that's what I need if I'd like to be proactive.  I really didn't want to deal with the emergency room so I'm going to wait for a call today to see if they will schedule me for the endoscopy.  The nurse said that it sounds like now that I've healed from surgery (10 wks ago) the opening has closed up too much.  So is that basically what a stricture is?  Is it possible for it to reoccur - tighten up again down the road?  Is it a simple procedure and I'll be feeling fine after?

I'm anxious to get it taken care of now that it's been confirmed what I've been dealing with isn't normal.

I think that is what a stricture is and I do think that after it is stretched, you feel pretty much better immediately.  Let's hope it is all that simple.  I haven't had one, so maybe someone who has will have better information but I am glad you are getting to the bottom of it all.

If  it is a stricture from what I have read, it is a simple, painless procedure and you should feel relief immediately.  I do know that they can reoccur so occasionally they go back in again.  I read a lot about this as I was concerned that this may happen to me.  Grateful it did not happen.  Hope they get you in quick and figure out what is wrong.
