How Was Everyone's Thanksgiving?

I was able to stick with my plan with no problems.  The only issue I had was I think I may have pushed it with the turkey.  I put some turkey, mashed cauliflower and mashed potatoes and gravy on my plate.  That was all there was I could eat.  I also had an almond cookie when I got there.  I ate more turkey then I usually would have.  I took a few bites of the cauliflower and potatoes and I was stuffed.  For a little while I thought I might get sick which scared me to death because their bathroom is right next to the dining room.  I know they  have another bathroom upstairs but I couldn't find it.  This is one of the few times I have allowed myself to eat enough to feel sick.  I usually stop before I get to that point but I guess I figured it was Thanksgiving I could eat a bit more.  After a while I felt better and about an hour later they were going for dessert.  I am glad I brought the cheesecake because there was nothing else I could eat there.  I had a piece and it was great if I say so myself.  It looked good, too.  I wish I had taken a picture of it.  There were 5 pies there so not a lot of the cheesecake was eaten but my dil's grandfather is diabetic and he was thrilled he could eat cheesecake.  He said it was his favorite food so I told him to take home the leftovers.  He couldn't have been happier.  There was a lot, too.  I probably would have thrown out most of it.  I also told my dil to keep some of it, too.  And I left the rest of the cauliflower since I made two last night and kept one.  That was a big hit and most of it was gone.
I had a nice time visiting with my son and I meet my daughter's boyfriend for the first time.  It was a good night and I am glad I don't feel bad about anything I ate.  What helped the most was having a plan and sticking to it.  And for me, not using the holiday to eat things I wouldn't normally eat.  I remember many Thanksgivings that were the beginning of large weight regains because I told myself that it was ok to have that roll and dessert because it was just one day.  Which turned into many, all the way through the holidays and beyond.  So for me I need to stay consistent because I am not good at turning my addiction to refined carbs on and off.  I can easily turn it on by eating them but turning it back off is the hard part.
I hope everyone had a great night and enjoyed the company they were with.

Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday! I hope to have your discipline when my time comes around!

Well, I'm still pre-opping it here, but my Thanksgiving went better than expected! Food. Everywhere. I ate like a glutton . . . If I get my surgery, I suppose it'll be the last time I can do that, eh? Great laughing times with my cousins :)

I'm so ready for change, it hurts. But all the hurdles I'll have conquered along the way make everything well worth it.

Mine was good. Everyone here had a good time. I didnt over eat and actually enjoyed a couple of bites of pumpkin pie filling.

Glad to hear yours went well and you didnt get sick. I still find it amazing when I am not paying attention on how that last bite can just make me feel so overfull!

the hospital did have turkey, dressing and green beans but it was all awful so no chance of overeating.  That's ok.  Presurgery, I would nave eaten it anyway, even it it was awful.  The pumpkin pie wasn't bad.

I'm sorry the hospital food stunk.  I had my daughter the Monday before Thanksgiving, and went home that Wednesday and thought I dodged the bad food bullet but a well meaning friend, who is a lousy cook, brought over my meal and made me wish I was still in the hospital.

Sounds like you did fairly well!!  Good for you!!  I tend to pick more before dinner, all the bacon off the turkey (about 10 pieces), ham as its being cut!  Lol!  I didn't over do any of it, so I was proud of myself!  Did get a small piece of pumpkin pie and a teeny tiny piece of pumpkin roll (one of my best friends makes it and it is a hit EVERY year...she makes it and actually sells a few too)!

Best part was spending the time with my family...including the newest member, 6 wk old Lily Jean!!!  Gotta love my family!!  They are soo important!
