Good Morning. On the bright side, or at least trying...

...I think. Yesterday I talked to my program manager and volunteered to work more with our number crunching cell and he said good, go for it. I'm still the SME (subject mater expert) on our project but now will work more data analysis...until who-knows-what-happens with our contract happens. {sigh}  Anyway, he also said that he's talking to the boss about the number crunchers getting tuition reimbursement for 6-sigma training. I know Jody is a green belt, anybody else with 6-Sigma training? {ugh, not a great student here}  Lord knows these are scary times. I can only see doom and gloom when our Reserves come back from the wars only to find their small businesses gone and no jobs out here.

Does anyone have some positive things on their mind? I need some positive stuff to think about...

Only a maybe positive.  I got a letter from CARF, who does my national accredidation saying they were requesting to extend my accrediation date from August to Dec because of the glut of re certs next summer.  So I still have to do it, just get some extra time, which will also give me more time to put it off.

Chili was still lame yesterday and the vet thought he should have been better.  He still has 2 more months off because of me so I guess it doesn't matter much, he wasn't going back to work anyway.  Not in pain like he was, just not totally ok.

Last day before surgery.  Cooking, laundry, groceries, tieing up loose ends.  The discussion yesterday about fear is more pertainant today.  I fear lack of mobility.  I am so independent and hate being waited on and being dependent on someone else.  I love DH but he is slow and his whole time schedule is so different from mine.  It drives me crazy that he is up late at night and sleeps late in the morning.  He will be later feeding the horses, which they will get used to, won't kill them, but irritates me.  He doesn't know how I like my protein coffee, and won't even be up to help me get it.  UGGGGGG.  I will have to get mobile soon or go crazy, for sure.  At least it will be progressively better instead of worse which is what my knee is now.

I think this is one of the reasons why  I love yoga so much, or atleast my 2 teachers who are amazing.

We always start out our practice with thinking about the positive things in our lives. Like our health, loved ones and our pets, etc. Then she always adds, and those experiences or people who are very difficult and the lessons we have learned from them.

It is a practice that helps me combat my depression to create this feeling of gratitude. The simple things sometimes like being able to get out of bed in the morning, especially since my back has been out of whack.

Gina, you are a very smart woman, just  not used to being a student. Do not sell yourself short. You have experience and I am sure your coworkers and higher ups see your determination. I have no idea what 6-sigma is, going to google next, but I am sure if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

You had the ability to change your life for the better and improve your health and help the rest of us on our journeys, I have no doubt that whatever you put your mind to, you can accomplish!

So focus on your gratitude list! Learning something new keeps your brain working and keeps you younger too!

Price, good luck with your surgery. It is so amazing to see how well knee and hip patients do these days. Yes, you will have surgical pain (we have good drugs for that), but no more arthritis pain and mobility will be an issue at first, but short term. Those physical therapist wont let you rest on your laurels for too long! You are in great shape now and you will sail through this surgery! Just keep imagining how free you will feel without the worry of your knee going out or the pain stopping you from what you want to do.
I will never forget the patient that had both her knees done at the same time, I was in awe of her.
She woke up grateful that her arthitis pain was gone, and she knew her surgical pain was temporary. That was a big  eye opener to me in the beginning of my nursing career.

Have a great day LW's!

(((HUGS))) Gina....I know it's scary!!  It sounds to me like you are a very smart woman and I know you are dedicated so I'm sure you will find a job but I'm Praying it's something that you will enjoy.  Personally I got a much better job now than the one I worked at for 18 years.

I'm not sure what kind of training that is either but take all you can get!

I really regret not spending the extra money (that I didn't have)  and taking some classes after I lost my job.  It was so irritating to me that the government will spend thousands to send someone to taxidermy school but wouldn't help pay for a few computer classes which were in my field.

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Hi Gina
I have a 6-Sigma Green Belt.   Basically it is all about defining what a process is supposed to do (a lot of flow charts!), then measuring the output of the process.  You make a change, then remeasure the process to see if there was any effect.  I use the basic concepts quite often in my daily work, as it really helps to structure your thoughts.  If you like numbers, you should be fine.  If you have any questions, or need help, just let me know.

I'm feeling very positive, as my retirement is becoming a reality (making more room for those returning servicemen!).  It feels great just to hand off projects, and not to get all bent out of shape when someone purposely steps on my toes.

Take Care, and good luck
Eliza

Hi Gina!  Wish I could help you here... there are all inds of LSS training groups out in your area.  You may want to go online and see if you can find a group class.

Positive thoughts?  Hmmm.. I got back from Florida yesterday all sunburnt - LOL... didn't even try.  The weather there was just wonderful.  I had a hard time coming back.

Today was a mammogram and bone density test.  I'm curious to see the comparisons for the BD test from 2 years ago.  Now... the mammogram with implants is different - they don't squish you as hard - geez - I should have had them done years ago!  LOL.

I'm going to get a treadmill this week.  I went shopping in FL with a girlfriend I hadn't seen in years and had a great time.  New purse, new shoes, new shirt, new jewlery!

Sorry I've been MIA... I'll stick around more.
