Being a guest at someone's house over Thanksgiving
Hi, I'm headed down to my brother's house for Thanksgiving. I'll be staying 4 nights. They don't know I had RNY. I know that it's perfectly within my rights to bring my yogurt, cottage cheese, Magic Bullet, protein powder, etc, to the house, but I'm feeling pretty uncomfortable about it. Their refrigerator is always completely crammed with stuff for the party and afterwards with leftovers. This is the first time I'll be away from home since surgery. Does anybody have any advice?
They've never seen me this thin before, but they have seen me lose weight (and gain it back) a couple times, so I'm just going to say I'm on a high protein diet. That part will be fairly easy. It's just a problem of where to fit all my stuff!

Oh, boy. Maybe a cooler with several of those blue freezer blocks. My parents always travel with one of those and all I have to do is freeze the blocks. Usually much more room in the freezer than the fridge.

I guess I would try to take as much stuff as possible that doesn't require cold, babybell cheese, jerky, protein bars, protein powder. Also take a cooler. Ice will stay for pretty long if the cooler is outside and it is cold out there. I've even put leftovers on my hotel room balcone when there wasn't a frig in the room.
