Struggling with protein

I had my sleeve done last Monday and I am having a tough time getting enough protein now.  Before the surgery it was easy to have enough shakes and such--8 oz protein shakes 3x a day were no problem.  Now, with my stomach barely being able to tolerate 1oz of anything, how do I get 60 oz of protein down AND still get 64 oz of clear fluids down--while still allowing 30 minutes in between it all?  I feel like I'm really having a hard time.  This week I'm supposed to start adding more than yogurts and puddings too.

Any suggestions out there?

((hugs))  You can count the fluid in your shakes towards your daily fluid intake. You don't have to get in 64 ounces of liquid in addition to the liquid in your shakes. Concentrate on your fluids and think of your protein as number 2 on your priority list. At this point it's fluids #1, protein #2 and vitamins #3.

As your new little sleeve heals it will allow more but for now, you don't have to wait before "meals" until you start more solid food.  Just keep sipping all the time, keep a bottle with you always.  And like Gina said, every thing counts as liquid so count your protein fluid as fluid now and always.  We were told to aim for 1 oz every 15 min. all day.

When you add yogurt and pudding, which you don't have to be in a hurry to do, you can add protein powder to them.  I put chocolate or vanilla powder in my greek yogurt often and  a little SF syurp.

That is a good idea Price! I never thought of adding protein powder and sugar free syrup to my Greek pudding. That might work to make it easier for me to use as my snack. I'm getting in a rut. LOL Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on getting your Sleevie!  On day 5 I started getting in my 64 oz of fluids.  I didn't worry about protein until later when I went to pureed foods.  My plan doesn't call for protein supplementation so I didn't worry about it and I did fine and have great labs.  I know my Kaiser is different than other places.  I would say to concentrate on hydration and moving your body as you're able.  When you add yogurt, go for the Fage because it has the best protein concentration.  I didn't use regular pudding but used Protein Pudding instead so that I was getting protein in as much as possible.

Be gentle with yourself because your Sleeve is healing and it won't hold much.  Just keep sipping.
