I need some advice
I think you feel like you are "starving' because you *ARE* starving. Literally.
The stats for the days menu you posted liik something like this:
B protein shake Cal 160 pro 30
L lunch meat Cal 60 pro 10
D "whatever" I used grill chicken Cals 110 pro 22
This totals 330 cals and 62 gms protein. Less than 500 cals is classed as starvation, literally.
At one month out you need to add another protein shake or two and at least one More meal. i think you should be eating 6 small protein dense meals a day. you need to add at least another 270 calories plus all the SF liquid you can get down in the meantime.
I am afraid you are getting yourself in big trouble since your body *will* take what it needs from you if it doesn't get it. Your body will start cannibalizing itself for protein by eating your muscles. Considering that your heart, lungs, kidneys and well, muscles are muscles you are seriously heading for trouble.
I would also ask for a PPI,something like Nexium and make sure it i prescription strength and not over the counter. The prilosec obviously isn't working for you.
Also, you sound depressed. it is not unusual for men as well as women to get a bit depressed post op,because hormones are stored in fat and as we break down out fat, those stored hormones are released into out blood streams and yes,men have hormones also. A short term antidepressant might help you over this hump too.
Check these things out...there is no reason for you to be this starving.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Holly

I'm going to disagree with people that you feel hungry becaues you aren't eating enough. The thing is, if your PPI working, you shouldn't feel starving this early out. You might feel some hunger, but not "starving" and "never feeling full".
I was eating about 400-500 calories the first couple of weeks and felt full a lot and never felt true hunger. I was only eating 400-600 calories for a few weeks after that and it was the same. I don't think I went over 800 until I was months out. Yet I felt satified after every meal. As long as I was on my PPI.
The "not feeling satified" after eating is a clue that something else is up with you.
Not everyone responds well to each PPI. For some people Prilosec works great but for others it doesn't work at all. Trying a different one or prescription strength or adding in an acid reducer like Zantac on top of the PPI is definitely worth a shot.

I went in to see OUR doctor's office on Tuesday. Saw the nurse practitioner (unfortunately, I don't remember her name). She spent a lot of time with me. Gave me some great guidelines. She said I needed to be eating a minimum of 800 to a maximum of 1200 calories per day. If not, body goes into starvation mode. She and Dr. Thompson encouraged me to call anytime or come in if I needed to. If I were you, I would go in and talk with them about your concerns.
Oh, I would so like to go in and talk to them about it, hell, I'd like to talk to someone on the phone. Unfortunately, I live in Amarillo and used the office Dr. Barker has here. Problem is, there is no one here except one day a week and when I call the Dallas office, well, to be nice, I might as well be talking to myself. I'm glad that your experience has been good. I can not say the same.
