I'm home again!!
Had my surgery on Monday morning at 7:30am. I was really worried it may not be a go with my swollen lymph gland, but the surgeon said it looked like cellulitis and just gave me antibiotics in a drip and we were set to go! (I'm on them still, so it's being taken care of)
The funny thing about the surgery was that it happened so fast. We went in and I got all set up. Although it did take awhile for the surgeon to get in there to do the final okay (he had to see my neck before they gave me my heparin shot), but after that I was wheeled down to the operating room and when I got onto the table, I don't remember a THING! Seriously, all I remember is getting securely centered on the table and then BAM! Waking up in the recovery room with my husband by my side!
I had a previous surgery that only lasted about 10 minutes long, but the prep for it must have been an hour! I remember ALL of that prep in the OR! So, I was really surprised at this one.
Definitely was sore and achy when I came out. More so from the gas in the body than the incisions. I think my left shoulder hurt the worst. Weird! They did find "a huge hiatal hernia" inside and had to deal with that before they could go on with the sleeve. I'm very excited that that was taken care of. Now maybe I won't have to take meds GERD the rest of my life! (I was just figuring this surgery in general would fix that!)
The only thing I was baffled about was the number and placement of incisions. For some reason I thought he had said that he would be going in near the navel. "It will be hardly noticeable" I have six incisions across my stomach; left to right; top to bottom. Is that what everyone else has? In the scheme of things, it's not a big deal in that I want to be healthy! I just was a bit shocked when I first looked in the mirror.
Doing really well today. Outside of a sister complain that updates were not up to snuff, everything has been positive.
Thanks to all my buddies online that have also been pulling along!

Had to laugh. I am a lightweight with getting knocked out too. I never rememeber anything after the first shot.. I guess I'm a cheap drunk. I don't remember the recovery either. I had RNY not a sleeve but I also had a bunch of little incisions scattered around and had a hernia repair. You'll be sore for a while but it won't last forever. The gas will go away sooner if you walk.
Sip, walk, rest. repeat.
I'll scoot down for you on the loser's bench.

Welcome home and thanks for giving us the details. Newbies will appreciate it and it helps us old vets remember our surgery better as well. Sounds like everything went well and you're handling things just as you should. Keep the fluids going in and worry about the protein and vitamin another week.
