OT Proud Mama
The plan was to homeschool her until she was 16 and then for her to get her GED since in Oregon a homeschooled child cannot receive a regular high school diploma. I am proud to say that she passed her exams and now has her GED.
Given the fact that most of this was during the height of my sickness it's a miracle she learned anything but she is very intelligent and a good learner. She received help through a local youth program that tutored her for the GED and she has been accepted into our local community college. Hopefully by the time she is 18 she will have her Associates Degree and can then go on to a university with that.
This is a great accomplishment for her and I take a little pride because I have been helping her these last 2 years. I had so much guilt that she was missing out on her teen years because I was so sick I couldn't do much with her and she didn't have much of a social life. Now she is a typically 16 year old. She has gotten involved with things and has friends and does things like a 16 year old should. She has never given me any trouble other then the typical teen age stuff like not wanting to help around the house or pick up after herself. Considering some of the things other girls her age have been into I am very happy.

Raising kids seems to be so difficult these days. My staff with late teens/early 20 age kids are having fits with the things kids do and don't do.
Sounds like you have given her a great start towards adulthood and she will continue to make her way in the world.

There's nothing that compares to the satisfaction and joy of having raised a respectful, successful daughter. That feeling is irreplaceable. Please enjoy this spectacular feeling. You deserve a metal as well as Jamie.
