Did eating too fast cause this terrible pain???

I responded to Tazz' post yesterday about dumping because I thought that I was experiencing dumping as well.  MacMadame's replied that it sounds like I ate too fast.

I ate the same thing for 4 days and everything was fine then today I ate 1/3 deviled egg (made w/light mayo) w/1 slice of turkey bacon and I thought that I was experienced dumping.  Immediate pressure/pain in my pouch that felt like my pouch was going to explode.  Then diarrhea and enough pain that it causes me to moan.  This is the 2ND time it as been so painful.  It feels like gas lodged and it's going to explode.  I even measured my food on the scale(1 oz)  because I dumped last week too so I decided to measure everything on the scale in case I was overeating.  I don't know what the answer is.  During this time I swore I would NEVER eat again.  The pain lasted for 3 hours - the longest spell I've ever had.  My 3rd episode, and I don't want to go there again.  Looking for some advice to steer me clear of that horrific experience.

I hope you get some answers from fellow RNYrs and can avoid whatever caused it in the future.

When I eat too fast, eat too much or get something stuck, it hurts really bad.  I keep papya enzymes with me and use these when it is stuck - sometimes I have to eat 4-5 of them before they help.  If I drink water - it is all going to come back up and it is horrible.

I have never had diarrhea with food being stuck.  That sounds more like dumping.  I very rarely dump so I don't know alot about that.  If I eat a lot of sugar my stomach just hurts and I get the shakes.  I can't image that deviled egg or turkey bacon would be something that you would dump on.  Are you drinking when you eat?  I can't do that it will make me feel really sick.

Sorry - not much help.  Maybe someone will know what the problem is.

Hope you feel better soon.

Linda,
I am going to the Vitamin Shoppe tomorrow and buy some papaya enzyme chews.  I am not drinking before or after I'm eating.  After everyone's responses I realize it is not dumping that I'm experiencing.  Also, I don't think I'm eating too fast.  So process of elimination - I think the turkey bacon possibly got stuck.  However, the day before I ate 2 slices w/o the deviled egg and had no problems.  Well, today I had no problems but I skipped the bacon and deviled egg this morning.  I will figure this out sooner than later.
Thanks for the papaya enzyme tip.

sounds like gas pain to me....  In the beginning, I remember having terrible gas pains from the new foods, the new amounts of iron going into my body, etc.  If it keeps happening, or feels unnatural, do call your doctor.  It also could be your gallbladder which is common too (unless you've already had it out).

Good luck, it does get better!!  It's a huge adjustment physically AND emotionally!

Mara,
Gas pains was something I considered.  I never had ANY gas pains after surgery.  I was walking the floor pacing back and forth is horrible pain and finally layed down on the bed, kind of rolling back and forth and had a few small belches.  I wanted to belch - it felt like lodged gas.  I couldn't stay laying down I was in too much pain.  Geez, at least I had a good day today.  I omitted the deviled egg and turkey bacon this morning.  But the last time this happened to me it was over 1/4 piece of toast, but have had it many times since then too.  By golly, I'm going to figure this out.  Thanks for your post.

Early out when I ate too fast or didn't chew well enough (or sadly, both at the same time).  I would get horrible pain and foamies.  I didn't get diarreah.  The papaya enzymes did help and I keep them with me all the time now.

Hasn't happened to me but I have heard folks say they can eat something one day then react to it the next day.  I think that is normal but what you are discribing isn't.

I can only offer to not eat that combo for a while and hope it goes away.

Sounds like your pouch doesn't like that so like Price suggested stop eating that for now. My pouch hates eggs with a passion and it can sit in my pouch for hours and hours causing me pain. One time it lasted 12 hours. Try eating just the bacon and see if your pouch does okay with that. As far as dumping, I have some experience on that as I easily dump on fat and moderate levels of sugar (over 15 grams) what happens to me is I get dizzy, cold and sweating, and have to lay down for awhile. Usually no stomach pain or diarrhea it's all in the head. Like a reactive hypoglycemia episode which I suspect I might have. To me it doesn't sound like dumping but a protest. At first it's just a lot of trial and error.

Aspan,
It just amazing me how 1/3 of a deviled egg could cause so much pain.  But I omitted the egg and turkey bacon this morning and am happy to say I had a great day. The day before this horrific episode I had 2 slices of the turkey bacon w/o the egg and had no problems - you might be right, could be the egg.

Thanks for your post.
