Looks Like My Hernia is Back

So back to the doctor for a follow up.  A complete and total waste of time.  Thankfully my weight is almost exactly what it was 3 weeks ago.  I have actually been in this range since Sept so I guess I am maintaining, although lower then I like.  There is a part of me that thinks maybe I will just add a few more hundred calories and call it maintenance at this point and wait for the bounce back.  Although a bit underweight I am very healthy and feel good.  I guess there is a part of me that just rebels at intentionally trying to gain weight.  I have done it so many times before without wanting to that it just seems wrong to do it on purpose.
Anyway, I was concerned about the hernia I had operated on last April.  I was taking care of my boyfriend's grandbaby, a 7 month old girl that weighs over 26 lbs and when I picked her up I felt something like a pulling on my scar and sure enough it is starting to bulge again.  My doctor said it was "loosening up"?  I never even heard that was possible.  Last thing I want is more surgery.  They are going to watch it for now.  So I get to choose, live with an alien bump and risk bowel strangulation or have surgery again.  What a choose.

Ugh, Tazz. Give yourself some more time if you can. You want your health to be optimal if you have to go back in to get the alien fixed.

I think I would try supporting  it with an ace bandage  wrapped around my waist  for a few weeks and give it a chance to heal itself .   At least it wont tear more .   The internal  split COULD heal up .... Im not saying it WILL  but at least it wont tear further .

I would just act like I had  abdominal surgery also and NOT pick anything up , try not to twist and bend ...  and let myslef heal ..

((((()))))) good luck dear Taz   hope U feel better and heal quickly ..

Tazz, while you decide which to do...add another protein shake or two to load your protein in case you do decide on surgery. You will heal faster if you do.

I hate the idea of you living with an alien bumb but the alternative is not a great choice either.

Good idea.  Last time I healed super fast because of my protein intake.  I am going to add another shake cake starting today.

Shoot.  That doesn't seem fair.

I have surgery next week for my alien lumps.    The tummy one is either an umbilical hernia or a chunk of fat that has calcified.  The ones on my head are most likely sibacious cyst.  No one is worried about any of them but want them gone before my knee is replaced.  At least it is simple outpatient, we think and hope.

When they did your surgery before, did they use a mesh?  I had 2 large ones that were repaired with my RNY and they said they used a mesh to repair it.  If this one is a hernia, the Dr said he would use a mesh if it were large enough but thought probably just a stitch would do it.  They really think it is the fat thing.

If Ur sebaceous cyst is not that bad Price U can fix it fairly easily with alternating 2 % salicylic acid acne treatments ..( which take off the layers of backed up excess skin that caused it ) and increase cell turnover ....

and vigorous hair brushing

the cyst is made out of essentially ingrown hair that couldnt find its way out because ur pores were blocked by sebum ( hair oil Ur hair naturally produced by Ur hair follicles ) mixed with a plug of dead skin cells.

NOt that hardto fix and flatten naturally ! Sure once the cells are stretched out they have a t endency to re-fill but they get smaller and smaller each time ... its just very important to keep brushing Ur hair vigorously in that spot forever Using ( preferably ) a boars bristle brush .

Brushing also helps Ur hair grow in thicker longer n shinier !

I was told yestarday that I have an incisional hernia but that it doesn't need to be operated on now.  He told me that at some point in the future if I decide to have it done, he will be glad to fix it but right now he knows I am going through too much and am actually not healthy enought to go through a another major surgery, He said if I wanted to get a binder to hold it flat, it might help with the pain stop it from moving around but for now, I am just leaving it alone.

No more lifting 26 pound children for you.  I am surprised you weren't told - anyone that has had an open surgery is at high risk for an incisional hernia

good luck

For what it's worth I saw your Halloween picture and you didn't look too thin to me. You looked pretty much perfect in fact.

Maybe you just need to get used to being a small person...
