Good Morning. Ugh! I hate the main board
Ava,
There is a VAST difference between compliance of a patient to the doctor's vitamin regime and the compliance to what we truly need in a great many cases.
Two examples right here in this house:
Dh is compliant because his surgeon allows the patient the leeway to follow Vitalady's plan. Therefore he is following his doctor's orders. His doctor (who also happens to be in NYC and is a well known DS surgeon) is smart enough to know that her plan works.
I am considered NON-compliant by my doctor as I also follow Vitalady's plan. Yet, my labs are better than most of his patients. So am I wrong to be non-compliant, knowing what I know? No, I am not wrong to be non-compliant but not according to my doctor and his nut. They would rather me be "vitamin malnourished" and follow their plan.
Children's gummi bears are not adult vitamins and esp are not baratric vitamins. And maybe you are being complaint by taking those chewable CHILDREN's gummi bear vitamins but you are doing yourself damage by not following vitalady's regime. She may not be a nutritionist by the medical community but she walks the walk and talks the talk...she knows more about bariatric patients and their vitamin needs than almost every bariatric surgeon out there. All she is missing are the initials behind her name.
Just for reference, here is what she has on her recommendations:
Proximal RNY
DistalRNY/ERNY/ & DS
Labs & Targets
Notice that the Distal & ERNY have the exact same list as the DS. And the proximal is a bigger list not smaller as some would assume.
Liz

Thank U for posting those links ! Ure such a sweet , caring thoughtful person !
I actually have arrived independently a pretty much her vitamin recommendations due to trial and error and others recommendations to problems on here . Im gratified actually to see that my vitamin botles correspond with what she recommends down to the K and zinc and iron choices ...
its a matter of actually TAKING the stuff now ... I should probably buy one of those weekly pill dispensers so I dont have to search for and unscrew a dozen bottles twice a day .
The amounts she recommends are also very interesting and i will be upping some of what I take .
Thanks again! As always honestly posting here on OH helps me tweak my health and real life to an even higher level...
