Hormones Linked to Weight Gain After Dieting

SUMMARY: Putting on pounds after significant weight loss is the bane of most dieters, but a hormone may be the culprit in slowing metabolism and weight gain, not lack of willpower.

Interesting read with regard to the why of regain.

I saw this on TV, and really agreed.  After a significant weight loss, I get really hungry!  Let's hope I can tame that monster in the next 12 months!!!

I saw it on the news last night also.

I am hungrier the day after I have lost a pound.  Don't know if it is psychological or what but it often happens.  I think that is too soon to be hormones.

Tiny study and it seems to be pushing some kind of meds long term.  Interesting though.  Almost as if the body sees weight loss as an autoimmune disease.

Autoimmune disease sounds like a good way of putting it.

I would love it if a non-harmful appetite suppressent was invented!

This is why I don't diet . EVER .

Call it what U will, all food controlling is DIETING . My one and only exception to this is to try to at organic, fat free orextremely lowfat , whole grain and very high fiber unprocessed and fresh .

But i eat a LOT !

Dieting by all statistics puts weight ON you long term EVERY SINGLE TIME U DO IT !!

is it THAT important to lose five lbs NOW only to gain ten LATER as a result ?

the only way I know to permanently reduce the body's setpoint is VERY slowly through building up calorie burning muscle mass . or fairly fast and inexpensively through liposuction by sucking the empty ( and estrogen producing - ( which is a weight gaining HORMONE ) ) fat cells out .

If U want a quick fix ... RUN !! the body stresses at carrying the excess fat and REDUCES it almost instantly starting with the upper body and waist ...
