How many vits can you take in one swallow?

I've got a bit of a gag reflex.  I can take pills ok, even big ones, but only one at a time.  I can take one large pill but not two small pills.  Weird, but that's when the gag reflex kicks in.  I watched my mum take her meds 4-5 in one swallow.  I think I need to try to work up to that.

I start to feel gaggy toward the end of my morning serving.  I'll be on these vits for life and I don't want to sit for half an hour every a.m. swallowing pills.  I mean I will if I have to, just looking for something easier.

Any tips on how to work up to multiple pill popping.

Sorry no tips here.  I can take quite a few pills at one time but the vitamin pill has to go down by itself.  I'm pretty sure it's mental but I haven't been able to get past it.  I'm with you though- I would love to work up to taking more at once.

I do find that capsules help.  My iron and calcium are from vitalady and come in capsules.  Now if I could just find a vitamin in capsule form I'd be very happy.
Good luck,
Janet

I can easily throw back my big multi, my big calcium, and 3 other smaller ones in one swallow..... No gag reflex as long as I swallow them with something OTHER than water.

One at a time here.
Somedays I need to use some applesauce, no sugar added of course, to get them down. If I over think it, I will start to gag.
I also found the celebrate has multivitamin capsule that you take 3 times a day and it seems to go down easy, unlike the calcium and the ferrogels are pretty big.

Good luck!

Looking forward to see if anyone has any helpful tips! Great question.

Yesterday I took 3 multi capsules, 1 iron broken in two, a VesiCare (tiny, tiny), a vitmain D capsule, 1 citrical tab and 1 ubiquitol capsule all at once.

I've just always been able to do this since I was little and decided to practice swallowing things. Before that I couldn't swallow much of anything.

I can swallow 3-4 small ones at a time too, but wanted to pass on a few tips that I've learned for other reasons over the years.

1.  Use a straw (if you are allowed to).  Put the pills on the middle of your tongue (not at the back) and suck strongly.  Don't throw your head back.

2.  If you don't want to use a straw, try drinking from a "sippy cup" or small mouthed water bottle where you still need to suck a little.

Both of these techniques stimulate your swallow reflex and the pills go down a little easier.

I was told that heavy pills  (like tablets) go down better if you tilt your head back while lighter pills (like capsules) go down easier if you tilt your head down. This is because the lighter ones float in the water while the heavier ones sink.

I too have a hard time swallowing pills in fact I had to buy easy to swallow calcium pills because I kept literally choking on the others...use a straw and put your chin down towards your chest..it opens your throat..don't throw your head back it makes your throat more narrow..
