I know, I know, I should not compare but . . .

was curious about those of you that only had about 40 pounds of excess weight to lose when you had your WLS - what was your rate of loss in the first month postop?

Hope your day is great!

You may be a trailblazer for us.  Although I'm a lightweight, I had a hundred to lose over the journey.

You're right, there isn't a way to compare. Each of us is so individual in our shapes and in our timetables.

I too envy you only 40 pounds to lose- I had over 100. I'm grateful I didn't have more than that!

Thanks guys!

I had a hundred to lose the first time. It came off pretty quickly, but I am not getting my hopes up about the revision. Luckily I kept off most of what I had lost with the band and with the revision I am shooting for 145. My lowest with the band was about 155. There is such a huge difference in the two surgeries.

Have a great week!

Hope your day is great!

I've averaged 10 lbs. per month throughout.   The lapband would have never worked for me.  Glad you got your revision... you may be surprised how low it'll take you.  Best wishes.

I lost 12 pounds the first month and the second and 6-8 every month after that. I lost a total of 110 but then put back on 10, mostly on purpose as I wanted more muscles (and more boobage LOL).

So I lost a lot more than you plan to but I bet your weight loss is in the 6-8 pound ballpark too. You may even surprise yourself and lose a lot the first month because it's really hard to eat a lot the first 1-2 months with surgeries that cut your stomach.

Hi,  I had my second revision in May this year and this time around I was weighing 171lbs on surgery day.  I've lost a little bit and now sitting on 147lbs and can't seem to get any lower than this now. I'm very short so I still look quite dumpy but I figure it's ok and better than the 231 lbs I was when I started out over 11 years ago now.

Try not to be too hard on yourself.

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

Thanks so much for your responses! I go for my 1 month check-up this Thursday and it looks like I will be down about 13 lbs, I won't get my hopes up that this rate continues. My surgeon said I may lose 25 lbs fairly quickly, but he does not expect me to lose much more than 35 lbs all together because of my height and frame. We shall see . . .

Hope your day is great!
