I do crave chocolate at times. I love to melt bite size pieces of good dark chocolate on my tongue and try to savour the feel and the tast. 365 brand had bite size pieces at whole foods that are the perfect size for me.
I also love the protein shake cake. One of the DS'r beemerbeeper posted this recipe and its AWESOME!
3-4 tblsp splenda ( I only use 1)
1 tblsp packed dark ****oa powder
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
3 tblspn oil (I only use 1 1/2, does come out a little dryer though)
Stir ingredients together add enough water to make smooth, not grainy. I use about 2 tblsp.
Microwave for 35-45 seconds. Can make in a bowl or mug. Top with a little whip cream for an awesome treat!
Good luck and enjoy!

Marie - I just made this - WOW its good! I was wondering if something could be substituted for the oil, as that seems to be where the majority of the calories comes from. I used 2 tblspns and it was still a little dry. Applesauce? I'm not a great improv cooker...

Marie says she uses canned pumpkin to replace some oil in recipes. I haven't tried it but I've heard of it along with applesauce.

I don't crave sweets like I did presurgery, except I want some chocolate here and there. I've chosen to have a square of intensely dark chocolate when that craving hits. I get a high quality, high chocolate content (like around 70%) bar, and have 1 square. It's not real sweet, and I get the chocolate hit.
Maybe you'll get lucky and be like me! (At least for ME it was lucky! lol) After surgery I couldn't eat/drink chocolate shakes, chocolate puddings, hot chocolate or chocolate milk without it going right through me! So my liquid, pureed, and soft food stages were done without the aid of chocolate and I learned to like and depend on other things. Now that some time has passed, I can eat one bite of a brownie protein bar for the flavor... any more than that makes me queasy.
You might be surprised... surgery can change a lot of old tastes and habits. Good luck to ya!

Chocolate has always been a huge weakness for me. Surprisingly, the cheap chocolate candy that is everywhere isn't tempting me at all this year, but I do miss good chocolate. I've found Zone chocolate raspberry and chocolate peanut butter protein bar**** the spot (for the most part). I budget the calories for one as and end of the day treat and then I can end my day with a protein fix too boot.
