Doctors appt today (Off to see the wizard)
Cold and drizzly morning here today. Not feeling very motivated to get my chores done. It was a rough weekend at work! Glad to be home this morning.
I do need to get something accomplished because I have some new labs and yet another appointment.
Labs most recent
wbc 2.86
hgb 9.4 hct 30
iron 31 (was 21)
tibc 384
saturation 8
ferritin 3.2
tsh 4.08
Need to get this baritrician to listen, because I have been feeling so wiped out! Up to 6 tender irons a day and 2 proferrins. Upped the synthroid dose only 3 days a week and that aint cutting it either!
I feel like Dorothy, the wizard (doc) has no real help for me. I hope I can get my internist educated or find someone who will help me out.
Happy Monday!!

Have you thought about going to a Hematologist? My WLS said if my WBC kept dropping that I might want to see one. He said some drop in WBC was normal with RNY as long as the other numbers stay up in range.
Good luck.

Well, as usual I am referred back to my gyn to do something to lighten up the menses and back to the internist to increase the synthroid. She did give me a script for ferrogel forte, I think thats what its called. I will know better tomorrow when I pick up the script.
She was pleased with my results, I am at her goal and she doesnt think I should lose anymore but I think I will see what happens when and if I ever get straightened out.
She didnt think a hematologist is in order due to the heavy periods I have been experiencing.

"Iron (Ferrous Bisglycinate) 80mg, Iron (Polysaccharide Iron) 70mg, Vitamin C (Calcium Ascorbate and Threonate) 60mg, Vitamin B-12 (Cyanocobalamin) 25mcg, Folic Acid 1mg includes ferrous bisglycinate, a chelated form of iron more readily absorbed in the small intestine, farther away from the gastric acidity of the duodenum. The absorption of iron is aided by ascorbic acid, "pushing" iron through the cell membrane of the small intestine.1"
I think I'd keep taking the Proferrin (heme iron) too.
