Day 25 Post Op - Pureed Tuna???

On my menu today it suggests 3 oz of pureed tuna.  UGH!  I like tuna fish with fat free mayonaise and pickle relish but couldn't bare the thought of just eating pureed tuna.  Anybody have some ideas for me - besides skip the tuna?  Cripes!  I just realized I can't have bread or crackers - now what?

I couldn't eat fish or chicken for almost a year. My go-to food at first was shrimp ****tail. If you're 25 days out, it doesn't need to be pureed before you chew it.

Gina,
First of all thanks for being my "friend".  It was fun to see your picture.  I want to join you guys on FB but I would need to set up a new account because like you I have busy body ex-coworkers that I don't want in my business.  Do you have a separate FB account for your OH friends and another one for your family etc?  Any advice?

OMG!  I would love to have some shrimp ****tail.  I'm getting really tired of bean soups etc.  I'm definately going to the market in the morning.  Do I need to get sugar free ketchup to make the ****tail sauce?

I have another question for you.  I see that so many people eat almonds, walnuts etc. but in my notebook for RNY patients it says that nuts are to be avoided basically forever.  So is it just Kaiser that  recommends no nuts or are people just ignoring their doctors recommendations?  What do you think?

Our OH Lightweights group is "secret' so no busy bodies can search us or see our posts. And, we are careful if we post to someones profile not to talk WLS. Some of us are still "in the closet".

I think of Kaiser as Nazis and ignore their dictatorial rules. See my thread earlier about how NUTS come up with their rules. They are going to give you more head issues if you try to do everything they say or stop eating something "for life".

I think nuts are fine for further out.  I wouldn't eat them for another month.  then just be aware that it takes very few to be a serving.  they have a good amount of fat but it is the good kind.

I do fine with non-sugar free coctail sauce but I don't dump.

I agree with Gina... Shrimp cut into little bites, w/coctail sauce, was daily fare for me.  Other meats were too grainy, even when ground and served with a sauce or gravy.  Another OH buddy likes to eat thin sliced deli meat with a thin layer of cream cheese and a small spoon of S/F jelly spread on it, rolled up.

I really like Greek Yogurt for protein though and here's a copy of my list for things to do with that tart, unflavored Greek Yogurt.  About half of which I doubt you can do just yet, but the others would be perfect for now):

0 fat 0 sugar Greek yogurt is indeed too tart for my tastes.  Here's some ideas I've collected from other WLS people of things to mix with Greek Yogurt to make it way more bettah!  It's too high in protein to pass up, if you ask me.  ;-)

1.  Sweeten with Stevia or Splenda and add blueberries and walnuts

2.  Cottage Cheese, garlic powder and fresh parsley (or cilantro)

3.  Grapenuts (with sweetener)

4.  Cinnamon almonds (w/sweetener if desired)

5.  Fruits  (S/F berry applesauce is great mixed with it)

6.  Salsa and/or refried beans

7.  Tzatziki sauce, add dry ranch dressing, shredded cheese, eat with low carb chips or use as extra creamy dressing for salads or meats

8.  Frozen fruits blended w/sweetener or protein powder to taste.  Top w/nuts if desired

9.  Granola

10. Splenda (or Stevia) and cinnamon

11. DaVinci (or Torani) sugarfree syrups

12. S/F Reddi Whip and Smuckers low sugar preserves

13. Legal Cheesecake = 1 lg. container Fage Total 0% Greek yogurt, 1 pkg. jello instant pudding cheesecake flavor, 1/2 C. Skim Milk and mix in the container.  Add a little more sweetener or DaVinci Hazlenut syrup.  20 gms Protein  150 cals and ~ 15 carbs.  Top with Comstock No Sugar Added Cherry Pie Filling.  Can put it in a graham cracker crust for parties.

14.  Mix yogurt half/half with mayo to make egg or chicken or tuna salad, or use it anywhere you'd use sour cream

15.  Any flavor S/F instant pudding that you like.  A little pudding mix goes a long way and only has to sit together for 5 minutes.  Adding a bit of milk may help because the texture can be really thick.

Hope these ideas help greek yogurt move to your "really liked" list.  :-))

I love Greek yogurt as well and recently read one poster's suggestion that has become my new fave: Non fat Greek Yogurt and Orange Cream protein powder. It soothes my belly and tastes so good.

I also recently learned to use the SF puddings and protein powder. My go-to is SF Pistachio and vanilla protein powder. Oh how I wish I knew these tricks months ago.

Oh, and the protein balls. Those are TOOOOO good and feel they could be dangerous. I'm going to try and make a batch out of PB2 to keep the calories down. Wish they didn't remind me of my holiday Bourbon Balls. Boy, would I love to have one of those right now! (Well, at 5:00)

Ah ha ha ha! I kinda thought it might be you but I've traveled back and forth on so many forums AND my memory stinks so ba, soooooo I was vague. Too funny but THANK YOU for that one. It's a dandy.

Protein balls? Seems like I read about them all over. You know, equal parts Peanut Butter, protein powder, oatmeal and a bit of splenda. There are different variations but you get the drift.
