Hi all,

I finished my very last pre-op requirement on Wednesday and now everything is getting ready to go to the insurance company for hopeful approval!  I will be revising from a lap-band to RNY.

I am EXTREMELY hot natured and I've heard that a lot of people who have RNY become cold natured and I am really really hoping that this will happen for me if my surgery gets approved.

Has anyone not been better able to tolerate the heat since surgery?  Just curious.

Thanks!

Yes! I was always hotter than everyone and was never without my auto AC or ceiling fans, even in winter. I live in coastal Orange County, CA so it never gets cold cold but three months after surgery, I would wear a jacket and sometimes gloves and scarf when taking the dogs for a walk at night! My husband is still in shock and can't get over it.

Now I get so cold when shopping the refrigerated/frozen aisles at markets, that I have to speed shop my way through. I still crack myself up when I complain of the cold.

It's definitely a perk.

I had a VSG, not RNY, but this definitely got better for me. I was always hot, and I ended up seeing 6 or 7 doctors about it before having surgery. I am not always cold now, but I am comfortable and don't freak out if it gets above 70!

Thanks for your replies!  That sounds wonderful.  I am really hoping that I will be able to tolerate the heat a lot better!

I have made it through the summer in comfort instead of misery.  I wear gloves these days more than anyone else and I have the ac turned to 73 instead of 68 like last summer.  I cover up with a throw when watching TV because even at 73, I'm cold.  We'll see how the winter goes but summer was wonderful.

Hope you get a quick approval!!!! I had VSG in April and by summer felt much better in the heat. We went to the beach, Cedar Point and were outside all the time. It's great!

The summer was definately much more bearable this year for me, even some night I had to drag out my electric throw. I seem to be evening out now though.

I'm about to freeze to death!!!! I've always liked the cold, but not like this. Seems like this cold comes from the inside out

Early out, my internal thermostat was just broken.  I was freezing or having hot flashes all for no reason.  It does level out some.
