Good Morning. Sometimes you just have to reboot the hard drive

Ok, this post is about mental toughness. Some of us have fallen off the wagon and have started adding things back in to the daily routine, or leaving things off, that we shouldn't. I'm ok with weekend and special occasions but daily or every other day, not so much.

Well, sometimes you have to get it together and reboot your own hard drive. Journal what you're doing in a food diary of some sort and post on Menus & Miles. Look at what you're doing...is it what you want to be doing? Will it keep you successful?  Reestablish your goals from time to time and look at what you're doing and figure out what you might need to change. This WLS is called a journey for a reason. It's not static.

So, LISTEN UP! Reboot your hard drives if you need to. Have a great Wednesday, y'all.

I sure learned several things about me during these camping trips.  I do really well at home where I am in total control of what I eat.  I maybe sometimes eat more than I should but pretty much stick to my plan, 4 meals, 2-3 proteins, protein based meals..

However, when I am camping and we have what is basically a potluck every night, I don't do so well.  I do fine during the day and usually get my protein and vits in.  but for evenings, I would start at the wine and cheese and progress to the supper where I would definately over eat.  I'm sure my overeating was still far less than it used to be but it is scarey how much I can eat without getting sick or really very overstuffed.  I don't dump and I am so drawn to deserts that scares me.

When I got home Sunday, I rebooted.  I weighed 118 Monday morning, 115 this morning, back to my all time low.  Rebooting works.  You just have to do it and do it soon enough to see the results quickly.

Good reminder, Gina. I recently looked at my goals that I wrote before surgery and realized that I've achieved all but one. So....now it's time to set new ones.

This is perfect.  I've finally figured out that long term success from WLS is the change in mindset.  The tool that WLS gave me is just a small part of the overall changes I have to make.

Great idea Gina!!   The surgery didn't get rid of the "ism" and I've got to stay on top of it!!

Can I make one of my new goals  "Get back on a horse AGAIN and AGAIN."

Heh Heh Heh.... Now THAT I expected from you!  ;-))   I think riding a horse is an automatically renewing goal that will never ever go away.  And I like that!

Went on a two hour ride three weeks ago and have lost so muchweight that my bottom bones were swollen and sore for weeks. . . Had to use a temperpedic pillow to sit on everywhere I went, and am still using it right now!  I am seriously going to have to invest in a gel saddle pad unless I never want to do more than walk (NOT!) or I want to ride standing up the whole time. (NOT! NOT!)

LOL

P.S.  Have you ever used a saddle pad?

Years and years ago I had a fake fleece one.  don't know why, I had plenty of padding then.  I rode in my western saddle the other day and it is hard as a brick batt.  I am going to have to get something too.  Don't know if the gel or the real fleece are best?

I hear ya about being hard.  I really hurt myself on that ride.  So, here's what I've found, if it'll help ya.  One review by a self-professed wimp, albeit a comfortable wimp, said after starting with a fleece, she went to a suede covered gel, and now has an assortment of materials for both her western and english saddles.  I've decided to skip over the fleece altogether.  Then it's a matter of gel versus foam.  All the gel ones I've seen so far didn't look like they could accommodate a big saddle horn, which since I ride at stables, is sometimes unpredictable.  I found a place that ships for free and have compared prices of the same items on Amazon (with shipping extra) and these guys seem to have the best bang for the buck:

http://www.valleyvet.com/catalog_products/equine_supplies/horse_tack_supplies/saddle_accessories/seats_cushions.html

The one I'm looking at, not because it's less pricey than any of the others, (although it IS) has adjustable leather straps for attaching to the horn and going around the cantle, plus the endorsement of John Lyons, plus easy care instructions.  For the price, it'll be a good place to start... for me anyway:

Let me know if you find one you like, and why you picked it.  I am easily swayed.  LOL
