UPdate on me long and some OT

Sore pouch - I had one during my camping trip and it is now fully resolved, back to my cast iron pouch.  I think the key was going back on acid reducers.  Thanks to loverofcats for that suggestion.  Although it never really felt like heartburn and tums did nothing, in the long run that was what made it feel better.  So if you are having pouch issues, keep that in mind.

Scheduling surgery for my knee - I had been waiting 3 weeks for the surgery scheduler to call.  She actually had called one day last week and I missed the call but she never called back.  So yesterday while I was in town, I stopped in the office.  She was very nice, we are scheduled for November 23.  I have to be at the hospital at 5am (yuck) but will get it done, hurray.  She was amazed I didn't care about missing Thanksgiving dinner but sure didn't bother me.

Other surgery - I also saw a surgeon yesterday who looked at my "hernia" which he doesn't think is one and the lumps on my head.  The lumps he thought were cyst, which is what we thought too and he can either remove or leave.  If he removes them he has to shave the area there they are.  Hummmmm they are about dime sized on the back of my head.  I have so little hair now I kind of want to keep what I have.  I guess if I do it before the knee, it can grown back some while I am healing from that.  Or maybe I will just leave it alone.
The "hernia" he thinks is just a fat lump than is calcifying and caught near my navel.  I probably will have that fixed but need to do it before the knee because they don't want any risk of infection with the new joint.  It is just outpatient and shouldn't be a big deal.  Did find out he is a bariatric surgeon with the Asheville group.  He was very impressed with my loss and condition.  Said I should be a poster child for WLS.  Glad to know there is someone local that will know me if I ever need help and can't make it to my surgeon 1.5 hrs away.

Insurance    So the end of my day, which was getting ok, ended crazy.  DH went to pick up some meds for me and was told my insurance was cancelled.    Dear BCBS had dropped me when my cobra when from subsidised cobra because of Obamacare to regular cobra.  I had been paying the new rate and didn't get a letter or anything so it was just a paperwork glitch but what a hassel.  I faxed them a statement when I got home saying yes, I still wanted coverage and that is supposed to take care of it. We'll see.  But it was a scarey hour as we tried to figure out what was going on, right after I had scheduled all this surgery to think I had no insurance.

Good luck with all of this Price. You sound like you have a lot to sort out but I know you're in good hands and will be fine.  I'm glad the acid reducers helped your pouch!  At almost 20 months out from surgery I'm still taking my Protonix.

Yes, I won't be without them again, I promise.  Funny, that was what DH was picking up when he found out about the insurance.

Price, You have alot on your plate right now. I am so glad that the acid reducer helped. I don't have reflux, but the when the acid is acting up, there is a real gnawing and burning feeling. I am trying to get off the protonix, but so far, I have to go back on it, after a couple of days'

I don't envy your upcoming surgeries, but you are a strong person and if anyone can handle it, it will be you.

How nice to be called a "Poster Child" for WLS. I agree!!

Great work, Price! That's neat about being a poster child for WLS!
Glad your insurance worked out!

Price, if I was near you I would give you a big ol' hug.  You have alot going on, but I'm so proud of you and your WLS success.  Wishing you a quick recovery with your upcoming surgery.
