Riding a bike for the first time......
......successfully in about 20 years!!
I have been wanting to see if I could safely ride and decided to rent a bike at the Biltmore Estate today and ride on their bike path. I was nervous but it was wonderful!! I rode about 5 miles with a smile on my face almost the entire time. I have been struggling the past 6 week with little weight loss and have been giving my thighs some death glares. Instead I kept looking at them while riding and thanking them (and this surgery) for the ability to be active and to ENJOY being active. I ran outside for the first time this week (over a mile), joined a 5K running training group, and went on my first trail run. The # on the scale may not reflect the growth I have experienced this week....am so grateful....

p.s. for those that ride, what type of bike to you like? I was on an easy beach crusier today....

Jennifer,
Sounds like a fun ride for you. I love to ride my bike too. I hurt my knee last November riding my 3 speed beach cruiser (carrying too much weight I think). It's a very heavy bike and takes a lot more power to pedal. I prefer riding my 21 speed, much eaiser ride. I started a bike riding club with some girls from work that we call the "Pedal Pushers". I had some hot pink t-shirts made with a cute logo. But I haven't been able to ride for almost a year now. I have to admit that even losing the 22.5 lbs. I just recently loss my knee is feeling so much better. I think I will schedule a ride for early November. The beaches here in California are beautiful that time of the year. Thanks for reminding me how much I miss riding. Oh, and I changed out my 21 speed seat to a cruiser, bigger, softer seat. Happy trials to you!
