am i in the right forum?
Congrats on the first step. My advice at this point is to find out which surgeries your insurance will cover and research them enthusiastically. Take a list of questions to your seminar and take notes. My surgery center gave out an awesome packet, i had consults afterward with the bariatric coordinator and the surgeon. I to loved to eat. Now, just 4 weeks out, the quanitity is much less but the flavor is so much more. I actually enjoy the smaller portion better than the larger. It is an adjustment. And i am still in the "Phases" but i am very glad i had my surgery.
Be prepared to jump through a lot of hoops, it really aggravated me in the begginning but now i see the reasoning behind 95% of it and it truly was for my benefit. I have had a really good time of it so far, no complications, able to eat and tolerate about anything so far as long as i get it to the correct consistency. Again though i am 4 weeks out.
At your stage of the game knowledge is power!!! These boards and your surgery center are awesome places to start.
Good Luck to you hun!! Hope to see you on the loser's bench real soon!

Everyone is welcome. Most of us here start out below 50BMI, usually in the neighborhood of 35 to 40-something BMI. We have some folks that love to cook and all of us love to taste. We don't eat much after surgery but we do like to taste and eat. You will be able to eat more the further out you get and we have tricks to share when you get to that point.

Yep! What SHE said! haha Major Mom has a way of putting it in a nutshell.
If this is where you feel comfortable, then pull up a chair and stick around. We're glad to have you. :-)
We all love to eat. We have learned how to do it in moderation though and it feels so much better! You'll see it's easier to stick with it than you think right now. & we'll help ya!

The majority of us like to eat...that's why we were "fat". I still like to eat but I like being thin a whole lot better!!! I'm 58 and I think the older we get the more important our health is to us. At 3 years out my "tool" still controls how much I eat and reminds me if I over do it or eat to many sweets or fats.
The most important thing is to take it seriously at the beginning and stick to your program. Your head might try to convince you otherwise but you have to learn to listen to your "tool". Your NUT will probably tell you what portions to start with and you need to stick to that and work your way up. After you start losing it will be more exciting and easier.

Welcome. You will find all types of surgeries here and get support no matter which you choose. We have. tiny folks and tall folks, old folks ( I'm 62) and young folks None of us made the decision easily but came to this point after many frustrating years of battling our weight. So learn, and ask and get all the information you can. Most of us are now off all meds or most meds, feel great and are enjoying life at a new level than we ever thoughjt possible.
Our tool helps with the over-eating but you can certainly eat around it and gain weight back. that is why many of us are still here, getting the support to stay on track. this is a great bunch of folks and they have helped me and so many through the journey.
