Those chips are really good aren't they!  It is so surprising to me how many I can eat and not feel full.  I have to stay away from the when we go out to eat but I talk and eat and talk and eat...and pretty soon the bowl is empty....LOL

Good Menu Linda!

Hello!
I am new to the lightweight forum and had my gastric bypass surgery September 30th. I am still on liquids until next Thursday but I would appreciate any input on what has made you succeed with your weight loss. How do you guys get in enough fluid ounces throughout the day and eat? I'm sure its all well planned out, and I would appreciate some input so I'm not so overwhelmed when it comes time to start eating again! Thank you so much.

Welcome.  it is overwhelming in the beginning and none of us are perfect right off the bat.  My Nut used to say "It's your job to get in your fluids and protein" so I worked hard at it.  These days it is easier but still requires planning.  I try to get at least 20 oz before each meal.  And I do 4 meals a day so that gets it in.  but it takes planning and sometimes I have to wait to eat until I can get my fluids in.

Welcome and Congrats on your surgery!!!

The most important thing at the beginning is to get your liquids in.  I'm a believer in the Protein drinks so the majority of my protein and liquids come from those.  When you start on food take it slow and concentrate on Protein first. I measured my food at the beginning and followed my NUTS recommendations.  It's hard at the beginning to know you are full.    I ate a lot of soups at the beginning like ham/bean and chili.  After a few weeks you should be able to recognize your full signal.  I hiccup but a lot of LW's get a runny nose, watery eyes, sniffles, etc.  Listen to your body and watch for signs.

Even though you aren't eating regular food it's good to start posting on here.  It's a good habit to form.

I'm having a great time in Ky with my pony.  The weather is beautiful and it is so good seeing old friends, some of which don't know who I am until they see my name tag.  I love it.  My food has been mostly ok but hard to track so I figured I could at least list it even if I can't do the totals.

decaf protein coffee
yogurt
low carb wrap, roast beef, cheese, red pepper
salmon
steak, salad, brocall, brownie

I should have gotten another protein in but will try to do better tomorrow.

I'm so excited for you!!  I remember how good it felt when people didn't recognize me at our class reunion.  It was so much fun seeing their expressions.

Menu looks great... I bet if you figured your totals your net carbs from that brownie would scare you to death.....LOL!!

How long does it take you to drink 20 fl oz of liquid? Right now I am supposed to drink 2 oz every 30 minutes. When you are on regular diet about what rate should I use? How do you go about taking your medicine and supplements. I'm new at this, and doing pretty good (I think), but seeing how others do it is a great way to figure everything out. Anything else you feel important for me to know, please don't hesitate! Thanks.

I never hardly drank before surgery so liquids was a big problem for me.  It hurt the whole way down.  I got permission to use a straw and it made life so much easier!

I still only do 8-10 oz. at a time plus any ice that melts.  I just always seem to have a drink handy.

I didn't have any trouble taking capsules but pills were hard to get down.  I bought a pill cutter for some of them, bought calcium citrate chews, and my B12 dissolves under my tongue.

If you post on a new topic on the LW board you will get a lot more suggestions and help than you will on the  Menu and Miles (M&M) post.
