Muscle soreness

Good morning all!

Just a little over 4 months post op now and for the last 5 days, every single muscle in my body (well, the big ones atleast -arms, legs, shoulders, neck etc) feel incredibly sore.  I haven't done any heavy lifting or working out that would cause this kind of muscle soreness so I was wondering if maybe this is just a stage of my body transformation?  Has anyone else gone through this?  My quads feel like like I did a hundred squats!

Thanks!

That doesn't sound right. How were your labs last time? What are you supplementing?

Gina, my doc doesn't do labs till 6 months, so I have no idea.  I am supplementing B12, D and calcium, daily multivitamin and fiber.

I think you've got the biggies covered except for iron. You might want to take 2 multi vitamins if you aren't already. You might want to look at Proferrin ES for iron. Vitalady carries it or you can order it online. You take 1 or 2 snapped in half but all taken together. I do wish more docs would check at 3 months and check them all. If you're still just as sore on Monday, I'd call the family doc for an appointment.

I'm older and my body always aches but I don't think it's any worse since surgery.  Maybe you have a touch of that flu that's going around.   Body Aches seem to be the biggest complaint.

I hope you start feeling better soon!

Never thought about that, Roz!  I was sick last week so maybe this is just a side effect, thanks!

I know that I am new and still a pre-op but I like to read alot. I remembered reading something on the Mayo Clinic about these symptoms. Here is an excerpt from this link. http://www.mayoclinic.org/bariatric-surgery/complications.html

"In the first three to six months after surgery, as the body reacts to rapid weight loss, you may experience one or more of the following changes (some changes are due to a slowing of the body's metabolism from weight loss and usually resolve with time):
Body aches
Feeling tired (flulike)"

I hope you get to feeling better!
