Hi Everyone-

Although I joined a couple of month's ago, I was hesitant to start posting because I thought I wouldn't be approved. But I was approved last week and my surgery is scheduled for Oct. 13th. I am on day 3 of my 2- week liquid diet and extemely hungry. The protein shakes are awful. I have tried everything to make them better (1% milk, soy milk, chocolate silk soy milk, etc) . Any ideas on other things I can try because I have not made all 4 of the shakes that are on my diet yet!!!! I know they will help with the hunger but they are just so bad..Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Franki. What protein shake are you using? Syntrax Nectar chocolate truffle and strawberry mouse have the least protein taste to me and I mix with 8oz of 1/2/ & 1/2 + ice water but you can use any of those you mentioned.

Congrats of getting your approval and date!

Good luck to you Franki......the pre-op liquid diet is hard!  I mix protein in with coffee or hot chocolate and it goes down easy.....also try some ready to drink shakes.....for me they taste a lot better.....EAS is available in walmart.....try a 4 pack before buying a lot as things may taste differently post surgery.....the more protein you get in now the less hunger you will feel.   I know, easier said than done.

Good luck!

What type of protein are you using?  Do you have to use a certain kind?  If not order samples from Vitalady and try the different types/kinds.

I had to do Bariatric Advantage.  I did Chocolate and Vanilla.  I mixed the chocolate with milk put it in the magic bullet and put ice in it and made a frosty like.  The vanilla I mixed with milk and added some fruit to it and blended it in the magic bullet.

Good luck and congratulations on your approval.

Thank you, Ladies. I appreciate your feedback. I have to use Bariatric Advantage. I am making it with Regular and chocolate Silk soy milk. It is so thick. Is it typically really thick? Do you know if making it with more liquid diminishes the nutritional value? I am not the world's best cook ...so I may be mixing it wrong.

I really like the ready to drink ones too, but my doctor's staff was very adament about me using the BA during this phase and then I could try others afterwards. Thanks, again. I'll keep on truckin'

Add more liquid, it won't hurt anything. You might also try to use a blender and add ice, or just add crushed ice.
