Good Morning. Serious topic link
Here's a link to a Vitalady post about transfer addiction. www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4455756/OT-transfer-addiction/
I've heard Katie Jay speak a couple of times. Please check out her web site mentioned in the link above.

I know addictive behavior runs on both sides of my family so I have to be very careful. I can't touch alcohol at all now.
I really have to limit my shopping now too. When I find something I want, I have to make myself stop and ask if I really need it or just want it.... I was spending way too much money!!
The list of her website of materials to read looked pretty interesting. I might check some of those out.
Thanks
Linda

Gina,
Thanks for posting this.
I went to one of Katie Jay's speaking events last fall before I had surgery. I have put a lot of time and effort into this entire process and wanted to arm myself with as much information as I could to help me succeed. I found her to be honest, knowledgeable, and super helpful. I am going to a retreat she is having nearby in two weeks. I totally understand that for some people obesity is just a metabolic disorder. For me, I now know that it is a combination of issues that have led to my being obese. I used food inappropriately but I also now know that it wasn't all my fault. I am almost 7 months out, have lost pretty slowly, have exercised both before and after surgery, have low carbed it, and KNOW that for various reasons my body sure likes to hold onto fat and fluid (I also have lipedema and PCOS which complicates things). I think our society still has a lot to learn regarding what contributes to obesity....genetics, metabolic issues, brain chemistry, addiction, etc.
Katie Jay is a fighter in this journey as is the Vitalady and I appreciate all of the survivors on this journey.
