planning for tomorrow 1st yogurt, cottage cheese etc.
I have a few questions I need help with. I'm so thankful that you're all there to help me.
Tomorrow I will be 6 days post op and my instructions from my doctor say to eat 2 oz. of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and 1/2 soft boiled egg per meal (3 per day).
Q 1 - Can I add items like SF cheesecake pudding, torani syrup, SF seedless jellies etc. to the 2 oz. of Greek yogurt or do I have to wait to add items to flavor it? Geez, I hope the answer is yes, you can.
Q 2 - Can I make 1/2 deviled egg? Do I need to use Fat Free Mayonnaise? Can I put a tad of sweet pickle relish?
The rest of my doctor's instructions say to mix 1 oz of water with 1 tsp. of protein powder and drink 5 of these a day. These instructions are for my 1st month of post op.
Q 1 - Isn't that going to be and thick gooey? Any suggestions?

I don't see why you could not flavor the Greek Yogurt. I would make sure it was seedless jelly. I like to add different flavors of crystal lite to mine.
I'm going to be surprised if you can eat 2 ozs or greek yogurt, 2 ozs of cottage cheese and 1/2 of an egg all at one time. (Unless I read this wrong) Eggs are sometimes hard to get down, I would try either the deviled egg or making egg salad so it is not so dry.
When I mix my protein coffee, I use very little fluid to mix the protein in and it disolves and stays liquid before I put it in my hot coffee.

2. We were to use low fat but not fat free mayo. I wouldn't use the sweet relish but you could add some herbs. Lots of folks have trouble with eggs (not me) but do ok with egg beaters.
3. Weird instructions for the protein but whatever. I would mix it all and drink 1 oz 5x a day. I don't think it will be a problem but some folks like shakes thick and some thin. You can add more water if you end up liking it thin. I did better with warm instead of cold.
Sounds like you are doing great.

My first objection to these instructions are:
1) When introducting new foods, you don't really want to introduce more than 1 new food at a time. They've got you eating 3 new foods the first day!
2) It's quite likely you will be unable to eat 2 oz. of anything at 6 days post-op let alone 2 oz. of several things AND 1/2 an egg
3) While most people can get down cottage cheese and yogurt at 6 days out, it takes many people much longer to be able to eat egg of any kind.
4) Why so little protein powder and shakes? This is the best way to get your protein and calories in early out.
5) Most of us are on liquids for at least 2 weeks post-op. It would make me nervous to be starting soft foods at a week out.
Are you sure that these instructions don't say something like "eat 2 oz of something soft such as: cottage cheese, yogurt, egg" Because that would make more sense. Though, again, you'll be lucky to be able to eat 2 oz. of anything at this early stage.
My program had a lot of suggested menus and other lists of suggested foods but they were just suggestions. They didn't expect us to eat exactly what was on the menu. Instead, they had goals for nutrients to shoot for. Mainly:

I loved your post.
After reading everyone's suggestions I've decided to throw out this doctors "orders" and go with the Kaiser plan. It is more in line with what everyone has been telling me. Then when I go back to the surgeon on Oct 5, I'm going to tell him that I've followed all the rules - Kaiser's rules that is.
Thanks for your input.
Some people have issues a week out so ease into it. It's all about experimenting with the right foods now.
Well my 30 mins are done; time to go drink something....
