Fast LW losers, what did you do?

I'm curious to hear how those of you who are LW lost weight quickly and consistently.  I know some of us will lose more slowly regardless of habits, but I'm wondering if there are things that can make a big difference.  I try not to compare, especially with those that have significantly more to lose because they drop some serious weight fast.

Exercise, amount of protein, amount of carbs, fluid intake, calories?  What do you think worked for you?

I've lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks, and I'm happy with that, but want to keep the momentum going and get this done.

I kept my carbs below 50 a day and my protein (via shakes mostly) above 100 grams. I also walked 6 to 8 times a day in 15 minute snatches and drank at least 64oz of liquid (diet cranberry juice and coffee). I was able to do that for 5 or 6 months and when I hit normal BMI, I let up on the carbs a little bit but no too much.

Whenever my weight loss slowed down, I upped my exercise. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes because my weight loss had slowed down because I was slacking off on exercise and sometimes it was just a coincidence. It always picked back up when I did that. Maybe not right away but within 2-3 weeks.

I never had a stall and my weight loss  never slowed down at the 6-7 month mark and I attribute that to exercise.

I've been quite diligent about following my nut's plan.  I exercise every day for at least 30 min, and try for 60, and I eat only protein right now, and drink protein shakes to until I get to 60-70 grams a day (which is recommended by my nut for RNY).  We'll see what happens as I get further out.

You should be patient - this is a lifetime change in lifestyles, and not a race to get to the goal line sooner.  I was walking today with a woman who is more than 2 years out, and is still losing a pound a month after losing over 150 lbs.  Her success - sticking to the basics.

I had losses every month, still do.  I slowed down around the 5th month and then started really watching carbs.  I have over 100g protein, 30carbs, all my fluid, etc.  That has helped me to stay on the losing path.  I exercised more in the beginning but since my knee has been bad, I don't do as much areobics.  Still work with the ponies as much as possilbe.  Will get 2 driven today.

not sure what you mean by "fast" but I lost the majority of my weight in the first 8 months..during that time, I ate pretty much nothing but protein, hardly any vegetables, no rice, no refined carbs at all..so considering dairy has carbs my carbs were around 50..with protein averaging between 60-100 grams a day..I know I felt better when I get closer to 100 but I had a very difficult time eating at first...then I exercised almost everyday, get at least 64 ounces of water in a day, and take my vitamins religiously..15 pounds in 3 weeks is really good! That is a lot more than I lost right away..I averaged closer to the 8-12 pound range for the first 5 months then I went down to 5-6 pounds..I think..

Weight loss is bound to slow down, especially, the closer that you are to goal. Your body doesn't burn as many calories as your weight decreases, which is why exercise and strength training are paramount to long term success.

I found that when my weight loss slowed down during month 5, I increased my aerobic exercise and was able to get the last 10-15 lbs off. I never had any major stalls, but had a couple of months, when the weight loss was 4 lbs.

Strength training is key to keeping your lean muscle mass, so that your metabolic doesn't drop too low. It is also good for your bones and everything else in your life. It has been key to my success and being able to maintain within a 2 lb window since mid-April.

Also, logging your food daily, using an online tracking is crucial to success. I kept my carbs betwee 40-50/day and calories around 800-900. Now that I have been maintaining, my carbs are up to about 100/day, which I need for fueling my workouts. Protein is also at least 100 grams/day.

I feel like I had pretty fast weight loss, much faster then my first WLS, which is strange because revisions are supposed to be slower.  I hit my first goal at 6 1/2 months out (78lbs), my second goal 4 months later (98lbs) and I am still losing even though I am trying not to.
My strategy I guess was 100 grams of protein a day, 100 oz of fluids and no refined carbs whatsoever.  I kept my carbs around 50 at first then increased to about 100.  I didn't exercise much at all the first year.

I reached goal in 5 months and have continued to loose even without trying to but I'm happy because people call ke skinny. Anyways enough of me. My plan was to have three meals a day even though they were small but I tried to space them evenly and I didn't eat at night. I also drank lots of fluids such as water or very diluted juice. I exercised very little, and tried to stay away from junk food and carbs but I still ate them at small amounts. I wasn't too strict with myself but it worked for me. Don't worry if you don't loose fast because I see others that were similar to me in weight and lost much slower but they still made it to goal and I'm sure you will too.
