Egg!

I'm sure you all noticed that I've been struggling to get beyond pureed foods, even though I'm six weeks out..   Today,  I successfully ate 1/2 an egg.  It seems like a small achievement (DH had to laugh), but it is a non-pureed food.

Yipee!

You must be so thrilled to feel like you are finally making progress!!!! hopefully everyday will get a little bit better as you find more foods that you tolerate!!! Celebrate this moment! There are so many great ones in your future(or so I've been told, lol)!!!!                                         -Julie

hurray, lots of folks seem to have problems with eggs but I too, remember how wonderful my first 1/2 an egg tasted.  Keep taking it slow and it will happen.  soft and moist seem to make a big difference.  Yesterday my salmon was difficult and I have a cast iron pouch but I think it was cooked to dry and that made the difference.  so things from the crock pot, taco meat, the meat from spagitti sauce, etc may be the next places to go.  Egg salad, tuna and chicken salad are possiblities.

Egg was and still is one of my problem foods so I'm really glad it went down easy for you!  Eggs have a lot of protein in them and you can cook them so many different ways.

Price is right...just try not to overcook anything and keep it as moist as you can.

One of easiest foods I ate early out was grilled shrimp.  Usually my DH gets a skewer added to his meal when we eat out....I'm a cheap date...LOL

Does your surgeon know it's taking you longer than normal to progress? (I can't remember if you addrssed this.)

My post-op guide said that some people can take up to 3 months to get on regular food without there being anything actually wrong and not to be afraid if you have to go back to a phase for a while.

But it also can mean you have something wrong, like a stricture. Their rule of thumb was that, as long as you were making steady progress, it was okay, but if you had a big setback, call them immediately.
