Many questions - nothing bad - just curious
Hi,
I am half-way to my goal - at least the one I originally set. One of my questions is, since it has been so long that I have been close to any weight, how did you set your goal weight?
I have noticed that my skin on my arms, even my lower arms is starting to be "loose' - ugh. My stomach, legs, and everywhere else seems OK. When I do my strength training, I do try and concentrate on my arms so I hope that will help some over time.
My last question is, which I guess is related to skin, is I am noticing more wrinkles under my eyes etc, since I have lost weight. Any good suggestions on eye creams etc???
Thanks for all the help! I am so happy with my progress so far and all of you have helped me through this process.
Lynn

Halfway to goal - that's fantastic. I set my goal with my PCP, who wanted me within normal weight. My PCP is ok with the upper end of normal weight, the goal on my ticker is mid-rande of normal weight
Weight loss does produce loose skin. How much it will contract depends on your skin, and your age. It' doesn't contract for a lot of people, which is why you'll see references to tummy tucks, body lifts, and arm lifts. I already have bat-wings on my arms due to excess skin. I don't think the bat-wings will go away on their own.
I don't use make up, so I don't have suggestions for eye cream.
Congrats on your losses.

I set my goals ten pounds at a time once I got to a normal BMI
That way it's more manageable
I think a normal BMI is a great first goal and you are going to be there before you
know it!
Congrats...
for the loose skin one of the things you can do is build some muscle under there to
support it...it will look better and less loose...
also your body will ingest some of it so you will lose some
Keep up the good work
nothing is perfect but being thin and healthy is worth it...

You are doing so great! Keep it up girl!
As for the saggy skin, you will find that once you reach goal and settle on a weight, things will shift. Areas will fill out while other areas will remain saggy. One thing that I did was each morning when I got out of the shower, I would slather on Jergens Ultra Healing lotion all over my body. I am 62 so I needed all the help I could get and to me it has helped. My skin is baggy in some areas (think butt) but my arms don't look all that bad. Sure I have the batwings but the skin on them looks pretty darn good, not dry or unhealthy but a fresh glow. As for under the eyes, any good eye cream will help. Just be consistent and use it each time you cleanse your face. For me, my face was too thin for a while but once my weight settled, my face filled back out.
Best of luck on your journey. Keep doing what you are doing.

I have had several goals. The first was what I hoped I could get to, 140. The surgeons was 130. After I passed both of those, I went to 124 which was the top of normal BMI. Since then, it was to get to 100lbs lost, 120, and now whatever. I would be happy here, 115. Everytime I think I am done, I lose some more. I just keep eating like I am and am seeing what happens. I see my PCP next week so we will see what she says.
My skin is pretty awful but I was fat for a long time and am 62. I just don't bare it. I look great in clothes.
I use whatever eye cream and daily use a moisturizer with sunscreen. I don't do makeup. I did buy some night cream when I was getting unhappy with my face but I don't use it regularly.

Congrats on getting half way to goal!!!
Saggy skin is an unfotunate side affect......BUT there is hope! A friend of mine had Lap Band 2 months after me and has been using Nivea skin firming lotion daily. She showed me some pics of her skin before using it and I could see signifigant results! I've started using it myself and am starting to see some results myself!
As far as wrinkles go I've noticed they have become more prominent on my face as well.....I'm trying to find something myself so I'm interested to see what people have to say......I'm tempted to get some botox......LOL

My original goal was set based on past dieting attempts and what I thought I could live with. Eventually, hanging out on the boards, I came to see that WLS isn't like dieting and I got more ambitious. I eventually set my goal to be a normal BMI.
I figured I'd still be fat at that weight but I had no idea how much lower I'd have to go in order to look the way I wanted to look. I got down to a normal BMI and then I jus****ched and when I got to a certain look, I started eating more so the weight loss would stop.
