A Recipe For Failure
First, I could have written it myself. I know all the tricks. Unfortunately, many of them would lead me right down the path that I emerged from.
Here are some of their gems:
Eat small amounts of food all day long. Some people find it easier to eat 6 small meals throughout the day.
Keep snacks near your bed, television or wherever you rest during the day.
Uh, isn't that what got me needing WLS in the first place.
Here is some more of their advice:
High calorie drinks are better then water; drink peach, pear or papaya nectar, cranberry, grape or orange juice, fruit punch, lemonade rather than plain water.
And my favorite:
Make milkshakes with high fat ice cream and ready-made supplements like Boost, Ensure, etc.
Yeah, if I want to dump from here to Tuesday.
And my favorite, a recipe they suggested:
Fruit and Cream
1-cup whole milk
1-cup vanilla ice cream
1-cup canned fruit in heavy syrup (peaches, apricots, pears)
Almond or vanilla extract to taste.
Blend all ingredients and chill well before serving.
That will work. When I tried to drink a smoothie made with Greek yogurt and fruit (strawberries, raspberries and banana in pretty small amounts) I was sick all night.
Unfortunately, I got no useful information. The most useful help I got was from Gina suggesting I use half and half and Gail who told me to add nut butters to my shakes. Both of which I am starting today.
Now I really don't want to go see the surgeon. They just don't seem to get it. Just like people telling me to just go eat a cheeseburger to gain weight. Or telling me to put the fork down to lose it. I want to gain weight in a healthy way, not set myself up for a eating free for all that I may never be able to put an end to.
