My doctor said my goal should be 220 and I set my goal at 200. When I hit 200 I set a new goal for 190 pounds. This morning I hit 190 pounds (actually 189.6 pounds)!!!!! Now I have set a new soft goal 0f 185 pounds. I won't be disappointed if I don't get there. I am now down 100 pounds from the day I had surgery, and down 140 pounds from my highest weight. I never thought I would see the day I can buy clothes without going to Casual Male Big & Tall.

hurray, Don.  I keep moving my goal also although I didn't lose it as fast as you are.  Men do lose faster as a rule.  But you have done great.  Yahoo, Yahoo.

Congrats on a fantastic journey and hitting so many goas. Keep up the great work. As my surgeon has told my husband and I, let your body take you as low as it will go.

No unfortunately not. We live about 80 miles away and it is just too far to drive. My husband and I support each other and use OH. We have also attended a few meetings at our local hospital here. I love Dr. Steele. We have our follow ups with her in 2 weeks (for our 6 month check ups - a little late). I can't wait to see her reaction to our progress. I am going to be attending Nik's event next month. Are oyu coming to that?

Yes, she is a gem.  I liked her very much.  Only saw her a couple of times, really, but she changed my life and I will be forever indebted to the whole Bayview staff.  Everythng went very smooth for me and all in a timely manner.  Some of the staff has changed since I started the process, and I miss them.  I atteded the support group meetings pretty religiously for nearly the first 2 years.  I'm kind of sorry I quit going  because I think I needed the support.

Congrats on your success, you're DH had WLS too?  Same time it sounds like?  How did that work out for you and did Dr. Steele do both of you?Tell me about it if you don't mind.

Oh, Cleopatra Nik?  No, I've never been, to one of her cooking get togethers?  I've been off the board for quite a while but she used to have cooking get togethers.   Is that what you're going to?

Do you live north, west or south of Baltimore?

Both my husband and I had RNY at the beginning of this year. My hubby had his 1/12/11 and mine on 2/15/11. Dr Steele did both of our surgeries. I wasn't sure about her at first, she was pretty tough the first appointment we had with her. But she has really grown on us over the last year. I loved the staff at Bayview. Our stay was fantastic and we have had no complaints. This will be our first cooking get together with Nik.It is in a few weeks in Baltimore. Hoping to have a great time, although any time with my hubby without the kids is good. We have also talked about attending the OH conference in NY in Oct.
We are north of Baltimore, about 45 minutes north of Frederick near the PA border. So appointments are scheduled together, seeing the NUT and Dr Steele all in the same day for the hubby and I. It's just too far to go multiple times for appointments.
I can't wait for Dr Steele to see us. We really don't look like the same people that she saw in May 2010 when we started this process.

aWWW.....well I didn't want to say anything but just about everyone has that first impression of her.  She and I had a brief "moment" but the bottom line is she honestly cares about her patients and wants you to succeed.

I was at Bayview staying with a WLS patient that I had met through the support group who had no one to stay with her and I wanted to help her out.  I hadn't seen Dr. Steele because I was always funnelled to one of the the PA's for my follow up's, but also because she was having her first baby about the time I was going to my follow ups.  So I hadn't seen her in over a year.  I saw her up on the 6th floor while I was staying with my friend, I said, Dr. Steele?, it was her.  She said she remembered me, I'd lost 90 pounds about that time and doubt it truly but she was so complimentary.  It's nice to be able to show her that her job worked so well.   I remember when I was doing my rounds one night, she walked with me, I was prett drugged up but I remember we talked about protein and various ones she liked and that's when she told me she was pregnant with her first baby.

We're not far from each other.  I'm just a few miles east of Frederick.  I look forward to talking with you again.
