Adult ADHD and RNY???

I am a teacher and I have pretty much known all my life that I have had ADHD. Never an actual medical diagnosis but very much fit the bill. Lately it has been at an all time high.. Not sure if some of my levels are off and it is causing it to go into overdrive or what but it has been very bad lately. I have an appointment in the morning with my primary care physician. I am not sleeping too. We went on vacation the first week in August and I haven't slept a full restful night since. My husband also has gone to night shift in the last 2 weeks. I can't concentrate. I am forgetful. Feel like I am chasing my tail half the time! I am having a really hard time focusing!~
My question is are there others out there that have had RNY and have ADHD. What is safe for us to take?? I don't want my cinderella slipper to go away!! I have worked to hard. I will just have to stay in a fog if it means I will have to gain weight!
Nothing tastes as good as this feels!

((((hugs)))   I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this right now. I know that when my DH went to night shift it really messed up my sleep schedule. Eventually I kind of got used to it. Hopefully you will, too. I have no wisdom when it comes to your other issues, but I wanted to offer you some support and cyber hugs! I hope everything works out for you! Good luck getting the answers you seek!!!                -Julie

I have adult ADD, and occasionally take Adderall when I need to do heavy paperwork.

My surgeon said there was no contraindication.

Just hugs   from here but no info.  I do know when something changes the night routine here, sleep is different.  Maybe at least that will improve with time and when sleep improves, everything else is better.

I have ADD and was on wellbutrin for it.  I went off of it in August because I wasn't absorbing it as well and realized there really was no point for me to be on it if I wasn't getting the full benefits.  Just recently I realized that it was the extended release dosage so that probably didn't help either.  I have noticed that the busier I get --the more forgetful I become.  This is pretty normal but I think its been bumped up a notch since I'm not getting any of the benefits of meds at all.

Good luck.

I do..I take Adderral for in it..in two daily doses..it WAS working for me really well but I don't think it is working as well..im going back to the doctor to talk about that in a couple of weeks. But it never hurt my stomach or anything its just really a matter of absorbing it completely, I say go get help it is worth it, I love to be able to watch a movie and not get up every 5 minutes or be able to pay attention while people are talking to me and not be day dreaming the entire time..Adderral is known to decrease appetite as well, and it does..I have to remind myself to eat or I will completely forget all day long.

If you are diagnosed with ADHD, just make sure that you are given regular release tablets and you may need to crush them, so that they are absorbed more fully by your body. ADHD meds do not cause weight gain; quite the opposite.
