Could use a little TLC and support...

As I have said on the Main Board, I have been running a personal experiment on abuse and why people have such a hard time standing up to it, let alone maintaining a stand.

Man o man, I have gotten some excellent information, but the experience has been pretty painful! I'm doing fine, but could use some hugs and kisses, or firm support if you think that is called for...

((((hugs))) to you!!! And know that you are worthy of being respected and treated well.   I appreciate all of your kind words and support when I need them. I hope that you will be back to your old self -a confident and strong woman- very soon. Sending you lots of cyber affection!!                                      -Julie

I admit I have no--zero--zip---nada training or experience in any psycho-babble but why in the world would you want to conduct an experiment where you intentionally set yourself up to be abused when you are totally out numbered?

Militarily, when outnumbered the best tactics are stealth and gorilla-hit-and-run. I will send a cyber ((hug)) your way but I won't go near the chaotic war zone called the main board.

When I was a newbie, I spent all of a minute lurking on the main board before I went looking for boards that were more related to what I was looking to gain from OH. When I decided to join specific boards, I asked the members if I could join them, get a little support for my upcoming surgery, etc...never had any real problems after that. I was the newbie and I assumed the role of newbie.

Just 'cause I care about the Main Board being a place where our newbies can come to and be responded to appropriately. May never get there, but I can do what I can do, especially with workable support.

Thank you for your strategy suggestions, and they make a lot of good sense. I would offer though, that with a gang like the Main Board, that first you have to get their attention!

With deep respect to you,

I'm still not understanding. Why do you want to get the gang's attention or are you referring to the large number of people there? The old veteran members aren't going to change.

I'm referring to the large number of people there.

I am under no illusions of nor desire to change anyone, particularly the old vets.

Just want to speak my piece and see what happens. I like strategy games, especially constructive ones.

How is this helping the newbies?

May or may not help them. But maybe, just a tiny slim microscopic possibility, it might become a safer, more welcoming experience for them there.

Maybe.

As much as I would like for us to all get along...I don't think your way will work. As I said, and you said too, the vets aren't going to change. That main board is a zoo with a long hateful history that goes back as long as OH has existed. As long as OH is a public website, it will stay that way. In my opinion, you're beating your head against a brick wall and drawing attention to yourself rather than helping the newbies you say you want to help.

Got it. But I'm having an interesting time playing. I'm not in it for results, I'm in it for the practice.

Certainly I'm driving them nuts. Good lesson I learned- keep the upset over there.
